Design Jet 5000 belt question

I just replaced a belt on a 42" model with an HP belt and noticed that the metal splice is hitting the ribbon cable ferrite as it passes (about the middle of the path). There are marks on it like the old one did that too. Any remedy? I don't see where else it can go.
Make sure the tensioner screw has been un-screwed all the way so it is loose.

Thanks, dmz, I thought of that too, so I went back and checked, it wasn't quite all the way out, so I took care of that, but it didn't make any difference. I'm at a loss :(

What ferrite are you talking about. The only one I remember is the ferrite that the cable went thru at the carriage connection. That ferrite ended up inside the carriage assembly covered by the little cover you place over the trailing cable connection area. If that is the ferrite you are talking about, then you have it in the wrong place.
