Hp HP Color LaserJet 2500L

HP color laserjet 2500L that only prints yellow

i have two HP color laserjet 2500L with the same problem! they both will only print in yellow, but not everything that is sent to them. the demo page is only in yellow, but when i go the preference print and i put it to print only in gray scale it will print black, i have realigned the carousel and check the toners and the imaging units but still having the same issues.
ANY SUGGESTIONS?
I have now had a printer come in for repair with exactly this problem. It only prints in yellow when it is set to automatic colour selection but will print everything in perfect greyscale. I have replaced the formatter which made no difference and the toner cartridges all work perfectly well.

Any ideas anyone, please?

Hi Moe, thank you very much for this solution. I have replaced the small foam pad and it works well. However, I cannot understand why this should be a problem. We had a similar problem on a Magicolor 2200. Can you explain the science behind this, please?

With the pad deteriorated, it leaves a sticky residue. The solenoid acts as the carousel brake. If it stays actuated because the plate doesn't release, the carousel continues to turn and the other colors don't get applied.

The solenoid is located on the top right side of the printer. It's just behind the back part of the access door. You have to remove the top and right side covers to access it. There is also a bit of disassembly of metal pieces covering it before you can get to it. You have to scrape it off and replace it with a thin piece of sticky back felt for it to work correctly.
