HP Laserjet 3390 Scanner Error 5

I'm trying to work on a Laserjet 3390 which is giving me a "scanner error 5" on startup. I've already cleaned all the optics (mirrors and scanner lens) to no avail.

The scanner assembly is trying to home itself but failing, I can hear the motor keep trying to move the assembly after it is already all the way to the left. On previous models this was due to dirty mirrors, but the mirrors on this are now perfectly clean and its still happening. Has anybody seen this before? Is there something besides the optics that I'm missing?
Did you get all the mirrors? I believe there are 4 of them. I've found that it doesn't take much dust to cause problems. I've followed behind one of our techs and cleaned the mirrors a second time and fixed the problem.

Yep, I cleaned all four mirrors with alcohol and a lint-free cloth. Several times. No dice, unfortunately.
