Hp HP Photosmart 2610

HP Photosmart 2610 error

hi, my name is angela & i've owned my printer for 2 years already. i live in ny, and yesterday we had a massive thunderstorm. when it stopped raining, i decided to open my pc, and my printer. on the screen panel of the printer, it said error 0x886a69f6 and a lot of ???????? and gibberish following that. All the led lights are blinking. i've tried going to their website & followed their instructions, but nothing works. i've tried unplugging and then plugging the usb cord and the power cord, but it still turns up with the message. Does anyone have any suggestions? thanks...

i have not called them up yet, in fear of them tryin to force another product on me.
hi angela had the same problem does anyone have a solution

If you have not done a partial reset do the following: Press and hold # and 3 while plugging in the power cord to the back of the unit.

My HP Photosmart 2610 All-in-one just died. It had worked just fine for years. Then, my 2-year-old was alone in the room with it, and likely pressed all its buttons.

It now has a blue screen and the error messages:
0xc0620004 and 411:lib_micci2.c

I've tried:
looking for paper jams,
unplugging the power,
unplugging the power and ethernet cable.
I've tried the hold "OK & Cancel"-, #3-, #6- and #9 while powering-on reset ideas.
I've plugged it directly into the wall.
I've tried making sure that the Control Panel Overlay cover was on tight. And, that the buttons weren't stuck.

The machine seems to want to start up, makes a mini-grinding sound and the print carriage never moves. Then the blue screen/error messages arrive and all the led lights flash.

Should I give up on it?

Many thanks for your help.

techjimbo,

are you sure you are giving good advice, considering you spelled words wrong on your response.

besides... do you guys notice that everyone's printer just broke around the same time???

it is quite weird...

This is a guess, but 2 year olds like to reach inside printers and pull out the encoder strip or anything else they can grab. Open the printer as if changing the cartridges and check for a narrow plastic strip that threads through the carriage and attaches on the left and right.

Also check the carriage drive belt and white flex cable going to the carriage. It/they may be disconnected.

Thanks for the responses, all.
Unfortunately, the cables seem to be intact. I'd still love to know of any other possible fixes, though I'm losing confidence that I'll find one.
In the end, I am disappointed with both HP and with our "disposable culture". One tiny fried component (the circuit board?) and the whole machine is destined for a landfill. That's not progress.
Does anyone know if there are places to recycle printers?
And, of printers and manufacturers with a better track record than HP?
Many thanks,
K

Since i have the same problem and i can't find ways to fix it myself. I'm gonna give up and send it to staples (which is closest to my house), i've called them and they said bring it in, but it's already out of warranty. So I suggest and assume that they will find out what is wrong and probably call you first before they do anything to it, and it would probably cost some money to get it fixed.

And I read off HP website that if the service center can't fix it, they are going to talk to HP themselves and send it in to HP to get it fixed.

It's better to let someone else worry and fix your problem than yourselves. I called up hp myself and they asked for $70 for tech support over the phone, and I believe it's a problem beyond "over the phone tech support"

I'm not trying to advertise for the companies, but my printer is important to me, i need it everyday and i don't wanna play with guesses and try to fix my printer. I've been trying to fix it with guess these few days.. it's very frustrating.

No, I was going to online chat with them (like I have done with other companies), but they don't support Apple os. So, I emailed back and forth with them---free of charge.
They tried to be helpful; though they were unable to help me. For example, even though I told them it was a networked printer, they were telling me to mess around with my usb stuff. Hmm. In another later email, the woman suggested that I try the semi-reset. When that didn't work I found the other reset key combos online.
Have you had any luck in calling HP?

I've had a hp 7310xi all-in-one printer for just over 1 year, and all of a sudden it stopped functioning! It displays the messages "411:lib_micci2.c" and "0xc0620004" on it with lights blinking. The plastic part came up so that we can't take out the print cartridges (but we figured that out), but it still displays the error. Any help? Thanks much. Hoping someone has figured this one out or some other reset codes I could try. Taking it to some local shop not really an option...
thanks.
