HP 4250, error 54.1 Remove sealing tape from toner

Moe and DMZ, I am so impressed by the way you solve proplems. And I am also greatful to all contributors.
I recently changed a toner cartridge on HP 4250TN, I pulled the sealing tape and when I put it back it still come up with error 54.1-remove sealing tape from toner cartridge. I thought this was from the cartridge, so I got another one. I have changed three cartridges to make sure it is not from the cartridge. Do you have any solution to this problem? Please help asap.

Thank you Moe and DMZ. I read the link and was able to trace the issue to roller that was not seated properly. I corrected it and the error stopped.
Again, thank you so much all.

I had the same 54.1 problem after pulling out the sealing tape. I found that the little bent wire that's in back of the white plastic thing on the left with the contacts was knocked out of place. The wire needs to be brought up and hooked into the little black slot, and then it will slide down in place. My 4250tn printer worked fine after I figured that out.

It`s the contact in the magnetic roller that`s causing this problem.
Usually it`s from a recycle cartridge. It` is not installed properly.

Have you checked the wire contacts?

You should start a separate thread to avoid confusing instructions for the two different machines, some people, (like me), display all the posts in chronological order.

I was having the exact problem as described. Upon inspection there were no bent wires, but same error. All contacts were cleaned and inspected, no help.

I was finally able to correct the problem. The transfer roller looked fine, but upon further inspection, the left side was not seated firmly. This sits next to the grounding spring.

A quick alignment of the left side of the transfer roller and a gentle push to seat the roller, and the printer has been working great. So this roller seems to be a culprit much of the time, and it's an easy fix once you spot it.

Thanks for all the help and pointing me in the right direction.
