Hp HP LaserJet 1012

hp laserjet 1012 problem

hey, i having a major problem with my printer. it's a hp laserjet 1012. let me start by saying that i am a moron when it comes to computers. the only things i know about computers are when something doesn't work, i end up reading a lot about it that way.
we rarely use are printer. we use it so rarely that the cables weren't even plugged into the usb ports. it is hooked up to a newtwork so that way the 2 computers we have can each use it to print. so i plugged them in and it begins to print and then stops before finishing the document that i was printing. i end up having to pull the page out of the printer. i noticed that there was another piece of paper about 1/3 of the way in the printer. i ended up having to pull that on out as well.
now i have a red flashing light constantly blinking at me. i've followed everything that hp troubleshooter has asked me to do. i've made sure the printer is plugged in right. i've turned it on and then off. i thought it could even be a software problem and unistalled and then reinstalled the printing program. right now the only ideas i have left are giving it a fonzi tap and hope it magically works. i assume that if i ran out of ink that it would still print but it would be a blank page.
i've gotten no error messages on my computer about this. does anyone know what this could b? did i jostle something out of position when i pulled the paper out?

I had the same problem come in to our repair office. The paper exit sensor stays in the open position in the back. It just has to be pushed down and that should solve the problem.
