canon mpc190 help with error messages please help

hi everybody I have a canon mpc 190 multifunction centre.
I have had it only a few months over a year and have hearly used it, when i turn it on the alarm light comes on and an error message that reads, check printer (press resume key).
I have checked the manual and cant find whats wrong with it but it also says the waste ink tank could be full and i need to take it to a canon person , but when i enquired they said it will prob be more worth it to get a new one, any ideas its frustrating i havent had much use from it and i dont want to pay another fortune for it.
Thanks chanelle
Here is the reset code for the waste counter. If you have used it little you should be able to get away with just resetting, at least this time.

1) Enter service mode by pressing: MENU, COPY, SCAN, COPY, COPY
2) Select TEST MODE
4) Select (3) (eeprom clear)
5) Select (0) (ink count)
6) Press the SET key
7) Press the STOP/RESET key (returning to the state in 3} ), then press power key to power off

Hope this helps?!

thanks so much I have just followed your instructions and fixed my printer also. I could not afford a new printer and this one has been a gem until the waste ink tank full message came up. So thanks once again I now know where to look for further help.

same problem as mentioned. one morning the printer came up first with **335. i fiddled with the cartridge with the "wrong cartridge" as the result. i tried the above mentioned routine but with o success. i also got confused about the "set" button. did you mean the "reset" or the "ok" button?
help would be much appreciated because i do not like to contribute towards the increase of waste on our planet. thanks heaps.
