Black toner leaked into printer cavity, now no colors printing
Using refill toner on black cartridge, seal unfortunately failed and black toner leaked onto other cartridges and behind. Vacuumed up, but now no reds or blues and only hints of yellow show when printing.
Best guess is that the toner is covering the plastic prisms that the laser light shines through to form the image.
I appreciate your response. Can a "jack-of-all-trades" guy attempt to clean? Where are the prisms accessible?
Thank you. I accessed the manual but your full link as provided did not open.
(Browsing the manual, the laser/scanner system (pg54) appears the focal point.)
pg 63 shows the location. Since the black is on top, it is likely the toner migrated down on the other lenses. You can try wiping them down with a paper towel dampened with window cleaner.
Am appreciative of your assistance. Will respond one more time after my attempt - to divulge whether successful or not.
Sometimes there are things in life that a commoner just cannot fix, regardless his talents. Disassembling this thing appeared daunting. Rather, I first vacuumed every crevasse, then compressor-aired the unit until no more toner dust exited the vents etc. To someone in the industry, this may well have been the dumbest thing I could do. Ultimately the error: "Turn off then on" which would not resolve. No regrets. It was a loyal printer. Gave away, possibly to be fixed.
I will be more caution with my backup printer - a dated but new HP color Pro M452dn. Looks better too.
Thank you again. Over and out.
