HP 5000DN Faded Prints
This printer keeps printing faded images. The toner does not wipe off the page anywhere. Looking at an 8.5x11 sheet in portrait, it's isolated to the top 1/3 of the page, but repeats - every other inch across is faded. So far I've replaced the toner a couple times (using refurbs & new), transfer roller, and fuser film. Cleaned all the mirrors & stuff inside. I've seen minor improvements here and there, but the fading is still present.
You can immediately eliminate fuser, laser assy. You have to focus on rollers with a circumference of 2 inches. The only ones that fit that are in the cartridge and the transfer roller. It would be somethimg on the side of the printer where the fading is happening. I don't remember if the top of the page is printed on the right or left of the printer.
From the bypass tray, 8.5x11 feeds landscape, and the fading is always on the right side. Which is also the top if looking at a portrait print. So do you think I should just try another OEM toner cartridge?
It's a tough one to call since I can't be there to look at the printer and the images. I can't see 3 different cartridges doing the same thing. I have seen it, but it was an incompetent company remanufacturing toner cartridges. Since you tried a new OEM, that eliminates that possibility. I would examine the transfer roller since it is the right side and supplies the HV to the paper to pull the toner down. Check the mount on the right side and see if it isn't damaged. I've seen a lot of them break and the roller isn't pushed up against the paper to the drum. That causes fading issues. It would actually have to wobble to cause your issue.
