Storing PS fonts on Compact Flash
I would like to use the Compact Flash slot to store Postscript fonts persistently on the HPLJ 2420. I put a card in and initialized it, as described in the service manual. It's listed on the config as a disk , 245 MB. So physically OK. But I can't find a way to put fonts on it.The manual says to use HP Web JetAdmin, but I can't get that to work.
After "initializing" the CF is unreadable in a card reader, so it seems they use a proprietary disk format.
Anyway, are there any methods for installing fonts on the CF, either in the LJ, or in a card reader attached to a PC?
I'd expect that any tool to do it in the printer would use PJL commands, so it might be generic, work on any similar laser with any kind of "disk". Haven't found anything though.
The printer's web interface has no option to upload. Connecting by FTP, anything I try to copy to it is just printed immediately.
I now can get a file listing and copy files to and from the CF in the printer, using PJL commands (using PCL Paraphernalia freeware).
But now trying to guess the file format and location for the font files.
Does anyone have Compact Flash card with fonts on it and can advise how they are laid out?
