LaserWriter IIg Screeching

I have and 11-year-old LaserWriter II that started life as a IISC, was upgraded to a IIf, and now a IIg. Last week, it suddenly started making a loud screeching, sucking noise (I thought my neighbor was using his leaf blower). I powered it down, waited, and powered it back up. Two red lights, no printing, same noise, which seems to be coming from somewhere near the paper tray end. Any suggestions on how to get it operating again?

Your scanner motor has gone into runaway mode. There is a simple "free" repair for that. If you want to wait we'll have it up on the site in the next day or two.
