HP IIIp "50 needs service" message

Hi,

I looked at the site and it's recommending that I should get the quartz fusing lamp kit as the solution. Is this the right kit? Before the printer died, it made a clicking sound. I tried getting into the fuser area and now one of the parts is looser than before!

The kit should fix the 50 error. The clicking sound could be caused by several things but not related to the 50 error. Not knowing what you took loose, I can't tell you how to put it right.

The part that's loose is on the right hand side, beside the WARNING! HIGH TEMPERATURE area (red letters on black) It's like a small lever and it's black, close to the felt cover. It moves up and down when you touch it.

How fast can you ship the part?

That's the paper exit sensor arm, it should be loose. When the paper exits it moves the lever and blocks an optical sensor at the top of the printer. Order it today and I can ship it Saturday. We ship Priority Mail, 2 to 3 days delivery. They are pretty good at it surprizingly.
