Hp HP LaserJet 4

HP laserjet 4

I GOT A 791EBF ERROR. I REPLACED THE PCA FORMATTER BOARD BUT I'M STILL GETTING THE SAME ERROR. CAN YOU GIVE ME SOME ASSISTANCE.
The service manual doesn't list that one. Is there anything plugged into the formatter like a jetdirect card, font cartridge or memory simms. Pull them all out and try it. Does the printer do an engine test? The engine test is located above the manual feed tray on the right wall. Look for a small hole and stick a paper clip or something thin in it.

That's about it. At this point it would have to be looked at by a competent tech. We had an Apple with a similar engine in the shop today. It had been worked on by a "certified tech". It had a couple or 3 weird problems that weren't in any book. I would never have been able to diagnose it without seeing it. We fixed it. At least one of the problems was caused by the previous tech. You can't fix all printers that you can't see. I try and diagnose as many as I can based on my vast experience. I've just never seen the particular code you have, it's not in the book and I don't like to give people guesses. - moe
