Hi

Ive read the manual but unsure which is the "head maintenance clutch".

Has anyone the part number for this clutch?

The machine comes up with the error straight away so Im unsure how to get into the service mode to test this clutch.

Has anyone encountered this problem yet?

I have the error code 7.010.43:50988 - I saw your posting for sending information to another person's question. Could I please have the list of possibilities emailed to me - I work at a public school and have about $500 worth of supplies for this printer. Thank you. - ksearstis
Please help!

I have an error (07.10.43) on my phaser and would LOVE any advice you may have on how to clear it. It simply will not work and is a relatively new machine(past warranty, but I have not used it much).

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

2. Verify the lock arms rotate correctly.
3. Check for spilled ink around the printhead.
4. Check the process motor gears for damage. Ensure the
process gears are correctly aligned and homed.
5. Verify the process gear box, process shaft, and drive

:theprinterfixer,

You seem to know a lot about the 8400.
I have acknowledged your previous posts about the 07.010.43 errors and was wondering if you have any other suggestions.
I am currently getting the 07.020.43:65959 error and the xerox site suggests to bring it in for service, yet offers no advice on what the problem is.
After calling they said they could fix it for $900 which is rediculous because the phaser isn't even worth that much on the market.
I have not tried your previous suggestions, but some additional tips would be helpful,

Thanks.

08.055.44:
The media path drive module has stalled while engaging the head tilt.

Check for obstructions in the wiper assy, broken wiper drive belt/gear, etc. Run the Head Maintenance clutch test and wiper drive test.

37,008.44:
The Preheat preheater is not drawing the expected power from the supply.

Run the Preheat Heater test, check the wiring. If test fails and no apparently problem is evident, replace the preheater.
by wlulham on Nov 29, 2005 at 12:35pm Add comment
8,055.44 either the wiper blade is out of adjustment or it stuck to the print head. Very common in this printer. (Not common but maby even a printhead leak and all the ink in the way of the wiper blade) Either way replace the process drive asm after fixing the problem.

As for the 37,008.44 do you have it plugged into a ups, power strip, or extension cord? They can all cause this error. If not either the preheater or the electronics modual is bad.

I have seen one other possibility to both of these problems once. Check the wiring on the maintenance clutch. (On the rt side on the exit shaft) I have seen where the clip holding the clutch on chafed against the clutch wiring. This caused it to short out and then severed the wiring. In this case it didnt damage the electronics modual but could have easily damaged the 50v circut (which runs the preheater).

I have three 8400's that have problems. We worked around the problems by moving up a printer each time. We are now down to the last printer running so we need to solve these faults

1. 8400DP - this will not print out a page now. Any paper that we use only feeds out 50\% with the image being left on the drum. The page count is 55340.

2. 8400N - this shows the error 13,579.42:250299. We have not been using this printer for ages, when it stopped about 7 months ago we did not look into it as two others were working.

3. 8400N - this powers up fime but no ink is being melted. This one has not been used for 12mts ish as we used the one above.

Please help or guide us.

Thanks.

Before starting the 8400, press the two keys simultaneously and then switch on. This is the procedure to enter the service mode.

Before following the MANU , you must understand the meaning.

You can "RESET" all the error codes -- if they are normal problems.

For specific problems , contact me ( [email protected] ).

Many thanks.

Hi there,
I recently got an error code on my Xerox Phaser 8400 and I was wondering if someone could help me with it. The error code is:
08.035.42.1458. I have been trying to google it but can't seem to find any info on it. The only thing I can find in the printer itself is to "contact a Xerox technician". I'm pretty handy and will try to fix it but I need an idea of where to start. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.
by J_May on Jan 25, 2007 at 1:52am Add comment
Your code means that a media path motor stalled while moving the cap/wipe up!
So check for any obstructions in c/w path, check c/w clutch, and check for normal operation of media drive gearbox!

The period after the 07 and 04 should be a comma.

If you search the forums using a "," instead of a "." in the error code you just might find some information.
by Stephen on Jan 26, 2007 at 10:37am Add comment
Well the simple truth is that the gears in the assembly on the right hand side of the machine, were out of alignment. the fix was to reset and align the gears then to ensure that the print head was able to move freely.

I am not sure if this will solve your problems but you should be able to use a paperclip to align the gears as there are alignment holes in the plastic assembly.

7,008.4x: PM_FAULT_HEADTILT_NOT_ ENGAGED
The printhead tilt is not engaged, so it didn't tilt back properly or the printhead is stuck in
the tilted position by the tilt lock arms. The process motor gear train getting out of sync
can also cause this error.
1. Try rebooting the printer.
2. Check for an obstruction or damage in the process
gearbox.
3. Ensure the gears are correctly aligned and homed, see
page 6-8. If faulty replace the process gearbox
assembly.
4. Run the Tilt Axis Drive test to test the headtilt.
5. Run the Head Maintenance Wiper Clutch test. If the
test fails, replace the wiper drive clutch.
6. Run the Wiper Axis Drive test.
7. Replace the exit assembly. - Anonymous

8,007.41: The wiper stalled finding home.

this could happen if the printer was powered off wrong and it cooled with the wiper against the printhead.

7,008.41: The head tilt is not engaged, or the printhead is stuck in the tilt position by the tilt arms.

This is usually caused by the printhead restraint arm being cracked.

13,138.42: The printhead left jetstack heater took too long to reach its setpoint.

could be a bad printhead, also does the printer sit by the A/C vent?

The error indicates a problem with the jetstack in the printhead. Make sure the printer is plugged directly into the wall. No power strips or surge protectors. If you're still getting the error you'll probably need a printhead which usually means a new printer. Which area are you in?.

The printhead costs $750, If you have only used Xerox ink in the printer you get about $450 back for the old head so you're looking at $300 + the service charge. You can get a new 8560dp for about $895 with a years warranty.

01,***.4* errors usually are caused by a lower tray assembly. Do you have one on your printer. If you do, turn off the printer, unplug the power cord, , the ink is still in a liquid form so either be very careful to keep the printer level or let it cool down for 30 minutes before moving it, lift it off the LTA and set it down. Plug in the printer, power it up. If the error has gone turn it off unplug it and put it back on the LTA. Plug it in again and turn it on again. If the error is back you have a bad LTA, if it's gone you just had a bad connection. The reason you should unplug the printer is even with the power switch off you still have power in the printer.
Hope this helps.

by Morgan9966 on Feb 19, 2008 at 6:09pm Add comment
If you read through the threads 07,010.43 has been discused many times. Either the printhead is stuck to the wiper (usually happens if you lose power) or the printhead can't tilt back to the home position. You'll have to remove the covers and describe what's happening.
by theprinterfixer on Feb 19, 2008 at 6:55pm Add comment
The 07,10.43 error means the printhead can not move back to its home position. Did the printer lose power?. If it did then the wiper may be stuck to the print head. If not you will have to try to manually move everything back to home position. Does it make a lot of grinding noises?. if so you may have a broken dm camshaft.

Since anouncing the problem with my printer I obtained a workshop manual and identified my problem as a printhead heater malfunction. As I have been using compatible ink I contacted my supplier and they accepted liability and replaced the print head FOC. I cant begin to say how helpful my ink supplier was, it would not be appropriate to say who they are here but if anyone wants to know who they are email me. - Anonymous
First, make sure the printer is plugged directly into the wall. If you're plugged into a power strip or surge protector it may not be able to draw enough power. The book says to check the wiring then replace in the following order:
¡ Drum assembly
¡ Preheater
¡ Printhead
¡ Ink loader.
The error is the print head reservoir so I think I would start with the ptint head.
Hopefully it's just the power.

21 errors on this printer deal with incompatibility between the engine firmware and the diagnostic firmware. There is a mismatch. Has anything been replaced or downloaded recently??
by theprinterfixer on Jun 18, 2008 at 2:20pm Add comment
The printer thinks the cyan ink sticks are jammed. If they are not jammed you need to clear the isc (ink stick count) fault in diags. Turn on the printer, when the xerox logo starts to move across the screen hold down the left (back) and right (help) buttons at the same time till it displays Beginning service mode diagnostics. Scroll to Function menu, hit ok, scroll to clear isc fault, hit ok then hit the back arrow to get back to the first menu and exit diagnostics. Hope this helps. - Anonymous

7,010.4x: PM_FAULT_HEADTILT_HOME_ERROR
The printhead is stuck in the tilt position by the tilt arms. The process motor gearbox
being out of sync can also cause this error.
1. Reboot the printer.
2. Verify the lock arms rotate correctly.
3. Check for spilled ink around the printhead.
4. Check the process motor gears for damage. Ensure the
process gears are correctly aligned and homed.
5. Verify the process gear box, process shaft, and drive
module shaft are at home position.
6. Verify the headtilt gear will engage, see the home
positioning procedure on page. You can manually
engage the headtilt gear.
7. Run the Tilt Axis Drive test.
8. Run the Process Motor test.
9. Run the Head Maintenance Clutch test, if the test fails
replace the clutch.
10.Run Wiper Drive test. If this fails inspect the wiper
drive system.

How do you access the lock arms? - Anonymous
I had an issue with pages sticking to the drum and replaced the drum maintenance camshaft assembly. I had powered the printer off before this and attempted to remove the drip tray and it wouldn't come out, it was stuck in. When I turned it back on I got the following fault code: 37,0002.47:41111

I then powered it off, and replaced the drum maintenance camshaft assembly and reassembled. All conections are good and gears are alligned. However I am still getting the error. Any idea on it?

Thanks

The error code 37.... you are referring to is a left jetstack heater issue not drawling the expected power. verify that the printhead is plugged in correctly. Also make sure that you have a good ac power source. plug straight into the wall. make sure you dont have any other heater driven divices on the same ciruit or breaker etc. Xerox has a service note on this issue so those heater test are more picky than some may realize and they do say the machine can run fine when its up and running but fail more when first intializing

Hi Nivek,

Thanks for the tip. I checked the line voltage with the printer running, it is 119 Volts. Still showing the same error.

Primary line voltages 90 - 140 VAC 180 - 264 VAC

1250 W (peak) 1000 typical

230 W (average during printing)

Just wanted to add that to show you the power consumption. As always try moving the printer to a new location. make sure its on a different circuit. Make sure its plugged straight into the wall without any heater devices. If all else fails you probably need a new Printhead which then its time to replace but check the connectors first.

Probably your best would be to remove the side covers and watch as the machine goes through its steps. You should get a better idea of where its stalling out and possibly why by being able to watch it.

CODE 37004401'118212
by Anonymous on Jan 4, 2010 at 10:09pm Add comment
hi, I'm writing from Italy, my company own that printer that fails during start-up ending with this code and randomly reboot itself.
I try to enter in maintenace mode, tried to move all the motors and they move, tried to heat all the heater to be sure they work and monitor all the temperature and they llok ok.
The machine is 5 months old and have printer I suppose few tousen of pages.
If this machine and errors code are similar to the 8400 the error mean something is not able to move but it appears to be not true.
The machine have been off for 2 months (it mean it has worked for 3 more or less) now we decide to use it again (it have been powered off unplugged during it's off day).
Thank for your time.

by Ricoh Engineer on Apr 15, 2010 at 2:19am Add comment
Printhead error or a grounding issue. Never seen the error before but I would check and make sure ink hasnt spilled out onto the wiring shorting it out. The ink kinda works as a coolant so I would also check and make sure they arent cheating out the ink out sensor to save on ink cost. An empty resevoir could overheat.

Yeah Xerox moved the service tech bulletins to another location making it difficult to share the information anymore. Anyway the error is a head tilt error. On the 8400 series I would check the DM camshaft assembly to see if the cams are cracked. If they crack they can slip out of position and can cause the pivot assembly to be in the wrong position. Another thing to check is the process drive assembly to see if the mounts haven't broke. Take the right side off and watch the machine and it starts up and you should get a better idea of whats going on. Also might help to know when in warm up the error is occuring. Like 20 percent? Hope that gives you some ideas to try. If the process drive mounts are broke there is a repair kit.
by nivek on Mar 31, 2011 at 7:13pm Add comment
I'm receiving the same error 07, 010.43 and I'm bummed that the service tech bulletins aren't available anymore, as I have no notion of what the different moving parts are in the printer to begin to try to fix it. In other words, I'm not sure which are the wipers or the cam shaft.

Any chance anyone has it who could email?

No matter what, I have some more details about my error. Terrible LOUD grinding noises begin at 5\% warmup and will continue every few seconds until about 20\% warm up, when the printer gives up and displays the error.

Any additional insight as to what's going on? I wish I had those tech bulletins. - unknown

I've got two Xerox 8400 N printers and meanwhile both show an error code.

One shows: 07,10.43:48608

The other: 37,002.47:63144

I'm not sure, what's the best way to fix them. I can't get into the service mode with either of them.

But I read that 37,002.47 is a faulty printhead. So I wondered whether I could use one as spares for the other. However I'm not sure how to recognize the printhead and how to retrive it.

But perhaps the 07,10.43 code is easier to fix. It is the better printer of the two anyway. Many thanks.

Hey, I'm getting the following error on our 8560MFP.

21,000.60

I've recently replaced the maintenance kit... Could that have caused the problem?

Is there a solution?
by BenBullen1980 on Sep 26, 2014 at 5:15am Add comment
The 21,000.6x error on the 8560 is a firmware mismatch.
Update the firmware (may have to reboot printer afterwards) and the error should clear.
