Operational Theory (Figure 1):
The toner cartridge contains approximately 200 grams of toner and is
mounted on the developer unit. The toner density sensor detects low toner levels
and signals the CPU to supply toner from the toner cartridge. Drive is supplied to
the toner cartridge by the DC motor and worm gear which rotate a sponge (in the
bottom of the toner cartridge) roller clockwise. The sponge roller rotates for 90
seconds and TONER CHARGE is displayed on the LCD until correct toner
density is achieved. The toner first-use sensor tells the CPU when a new toner unit is
installed. At 3,000 prints, CHANGE TONER U21 is displayed.

CAUTION: Do not test your unit with the new first-use sensor installed or
your printer will blow a fuse. Test it with the old sensor and then install
a new first-use sensor. This will insure that your customer's page counts
are properly reset.
Instructions:
1. Separate the toner cartridge from the developer unit.
2. Remove the hopper plug (Fig. 2) and vacuum the unit of all old toner.
3. Install safety seal.
4. Fill the hopper with new toner and replace the hopper plug.

5. Install a new toner first-use sensor (Fig. 3).
6. Provide a new waste bottle and cleaning bar.
