Instructions:
1. Remove the two (2) drum hub screws (Fig. 1) with a small jewelers screw-
driver. Remove the third grounding screw (if present).

2. Pull the two (2) drum hubs half-way out (Fig. 2). Flip the cartridge upside
down. Remove the two (2) philips screws that hold the toner hopper to
the cartridge shell (Fig. 3). Carefully separate the toner hopper from the
drum/wastebin.
3. Pull the two drum hubs off and remove the drum. Clean, inspect and lubricate
the drum (with padding powder) and store in a dark place. Replace if
necessary. If replacement is required, then perform the following to remove
the OEM gears:
a. Insert the steel dowel through gear hub opening, keeping the rod
against the inside wall of the drum.
b. Lightly tap the edge of the opposite gear until it becomes dislodged.
c. Perform step "b" on the remaining gear.
d. Install the OEM gears on another OPC drum. Note: You may use an
aftermarket drum for the Minolta SP 101 (without the gears).

grounding patch of the OPC. Otherwise, electrical continuity between
the gear and OPC drum will not be achieved.
4. Clean the waste bin of waste toner. Be sure to completely remove all old
toner. Be careful not to damage the mylar catcher blade and don't lose the
gear (Fig. 4) on the end of the waste bin paddlewheel shaft.
5. Carefully clean the charging brush with compressed air (Fig. 5). Note: Do
not touch or vacuum the brush.

6. Remove the toner hopper plug. Clean the toner hopper of all old toner.
7. Clean the magnetic roller with a lint-free cloth. Be very careful not to touch,
scratch, bend or crease the magnetic roller sleeve.
8. Fill the toner hopper with toner. Install the toner hopper plug. Install the OPC
drum. Make sure the drum hubs are installed half way. Put the toner hopper
and waste bin together.
9. Install the two (2) philips head screws that hold the toner hopper to the cart-
ridge shell and push the two (2) drum hubs back in place.

10. Install the two (2) philips head screws that hold the drum hubs in place.
Note: The printer does not have a toner out sensor, however, it does have a toner
counter on the logic board. This counter must be reset when replacing the imaging
cartridge. The following steps are the reset procedures:
* When the LCD displays "NEW CARTRIDGE? Press "RESET" for yes;
Press "CONTINUE" for no. (Press the RESET button on the control panel.)
* When the LCD does not display "NEW CARTRIDGE? Select the TONER
option in Select Type Level 2, and then select NEW.
