1.
Remove the Magnetic Developer roller shutter cover bolt by pulling
it out. If it is difficult to remove gently pry the piece up with a
small flat-head screwdriver.
2.
Now remove the shutter lock tab located on the other side of the
cartridge by gently prying it up at the base. Be careful not to break
or loose this piece as it holds the shutter in the locked position and
serves to protect the Magnetic Developer Roller from damage.
3. Now it is time to remove the Magnetic Develop Roller shutter from
the cartridge body. With your fingers or a small flat head screwdriver
gently lift the circular shaped piece of plastic over the helical drive gear
axle cover. This is a very fragile component so be careful not to break
it. Once this piece has been removed you will notice that it is still
attached to the cartridge body by a thin piece of Polyethylene. DO
NOT REMOVE IT !!!!

4. Remove the two screws that hold the plastic side plate on. After removal
of the side cap inspect it for damage and clean all traces of toner off the
contacts with 99% Isopropyl Alcohol and set it aside
5. Located on the opposite side of the cartridge is another side plate that is
also held in place by two screws. Remove both screws and gently pull the
side plate away from the cartridge body. This side plate also contains a
number of electrical contacts. Clean them in the same manner as in step four
and set it aside.
Here is a side by side comparison of the side plates. The numerous contacts
help to regulate the voltage that is delivered to the magnetic developer
roller. If they are not cleaned properly a print defect could occur due to
improper charging.
This picture illustrates the relation of the various gears and their correct
positioning on the toner cartridge body. Always double-check the gear
position before re-attaching the cartridge side plate.

6. Remove two of the three drive gears and set them aside. Make a mental
note of the correct position of the gears. The gear that is not removable is
the drive gear for the toner hopper agitator bar.
7. The next step is to remove the magnetic developer roller from the main
cartridge body. Before this can be done you must remove the magnetic
developer roller drive gear as well as the copper spring contact located at
the end of the magnetic roller.
8. To remove the magnetic developer roller from the main cartridge body
grasp the end of the roller that is located near the toner fill cap side of the
cartridge. Gently pull the roller up and out, taking care not to scratch or
touch the coated area of the magnetic roller. Once the roller is removed
clean it with dry filtered compressed air. You may want to wrap the roller
up in a lint free cloth and store it in a out of the way area to avoid possible
damage to the roller.
9. To remove the Dr. Blade you must first remove the contacts that are on
top of the Dr. Blade bracket. Using a jewelers screwdriver remove the
small screws that hold it in place and remove the contacts. Next remove
the larger screws on each side of the metal stamping and then lift out the
Dr. Blade assembly. Assuming that you are not splitting the cartridge, re-
install the Dr.Blade and fill the cartridge through the still vacant magnetic
developer roller opening and re-assemble in reverse order.
