1.
Remove the Magnetic Developer Roller shutter cover retaining bolt
by pulling it off or gently prying it off with a small flat head
screwdriver.
2.
Now remove the shutter lock-tab located on the opposite side of the
cartridge by gently prying it up with a small flat-head screwdriver.
Take care not to loose or damage this component as it holds the
shutter in the closed position and serves to protect the Magnetic
Developer Roller from Damage
3. Now it is time to remove the Magnetic Developer Roller Shutter
from the cartridge body. With your fingers or a small flat-head
screwdriver pry the circular shaped piece of plastic over the helical
drive gear cover. Be careful, as this piece is very fragile and easy to
disfigure or break. Once this has been accomplished you will notice
that the cover is still attached to the main cartridge body via a thin
piece of Polyethylene. DO NOT REMOVE IT!!!

4. Remove the two screws that hold the side plate on. After removal of the
side cap inspect it for damage and clean all contacts with 99% Isopropyl
Alcohol and set it aside.
5. Located on the opposite side of the cartridge is another side plate that is
also held in place by two screws. Remove both screws and then pull the side
plate off. This side plate also contains a number of electrical contacts. Clean
them the same way as in the previous step.
Here is a side by side comparison of the different side plates. The numerous
contacts help to regulate voltage throughout the color cartridge.
6. Grasp the magnetic roller by the shaft at the toner fill cap side of the
cartridge. Before removing the roller from the cartridge it will be necessary
to remove the copper contact spring as well as the Magnetic Developer
Roller drive gear.
7. Gently pulling up and over pull the Magnetic Developer Roller towards
the toner fill cap side of the cartridge. Upon removal of the mag sleeve you
will notice that the magnet is missing from the roller, all of the color
cartridges use the electrostatic development system similar to the Lexmark
4019,39,49 series of toner cartridges. Once the roller is removed clean it
with dry filtered compressed air and wrap it in a lint free cloth for
protection.

8. Remove the Dr. Blade grounding contacts by using a small jewelers
screwdriver. Do not remove the copper contacts from the blade. Next
remove the larger silver screws that hold the rest of the assembly
together. Be careful when you are removing the Dr.Blade as it is
composed of four separate components.
9. After removing the screws pry the Dr.Blade up with a small flat-head
screwdriver, again please exercise caution as some of the components that
make up the Dr.Blade assembly are very fragile and is somewhat difficult
to remove them all at once. You may want to remove them one
component at a time to be safe.
These are the components that make up the OEM Dr. Blade. To re-install
the blade it is best to rebuild it piece by piece. Starting at the top of the
photo is the order that the components should be placed back onto the
cartridge to complete the Dr. Blade assembly.
Here is a complete photo of the correctly assembled Dr. Blade assembly
10. Inspect the mag roller sealing blade as well as the mag roller felts for
damage before re-assembly. Assuming that you are not going to split the
cartridge you may fill the toner hopper through the still vacant Magnetic
Roller slot. After it is filled add the Dr.Blade and re-assemble in reverse
order
