DX4850

Just a thought incredibly late in the day but mainly for anyone else who finds this thread Taking the printer apart to clean andor replace the waste pads is incredibly messy and likely to mess up the calibration of the printer making it unusable Youd be much better off installing an external waste ink kit which is basically just a redirection of the cleaningpriming pump waste tube to an external tank bypassing the pads completely Lot simpler to manage theres even a handy access hatch in the DX4850 and avoids any need to repeat the process when you get the message again These instructions for the RX420 would be pretty much the same for your model different black cartridge Its possible your cart has a bad chip so Id get a replacement Its also possible that theres just a small problem with the chip contacts so try: cleaning the black cartridge chip checking theres no fluff hair or dust in the printhead thats causing a short or poor contact check the chip is sited properly on the cartridge Something in that lot should help note there is an easier way of cleaning the printhead nozzles than running numerous very wasteful head cleaning routines The general rule of thumb is to run at most three cleaning routines in one go If that doesnt work you want to get some cleaning solution to help dissolve and break down the clogs in the nozzles I believe FYOP have such a solution available Soak a lint free cloth segment big enough to sit over the parking pad area and then move the printhead over that to sit for 612 hours Replace every few hours and then after a full day try a SINGLE cleaning routine and then try printing a nozzle check This approach allows the cleaning solution to wick up into the nozzles and break down the clogs so they return at least in part to a solution and can be ejected from the nozzle All thats required is patience and the relevant solution and pads Anything else is likely to damage the printhead nozzles as clogged particles are essentially rammed sucked and dragged out of the nozzles Hope that helps someone Oh and thats just one suggestion Others are available from Art Entlich google him who has a VERY comprehensive printhead cleaning manual thats well worth requesting Good luck

<dc:subject>InkJet Forum</dc:subject>

<item flat cable leading into the sensor board on the back of the printhead has come loose If you can see a flat cable leading to the back there thats flapping about then thats your problem It is possible to get it back in to the connector but it is a faff and requires a fair bit of patience and careful dexterity Had it happen a few times on my C84s so recognise the symptoms Is mighty scary though when it starts slamming around like a blinded bear

<dc:subject>InkJet Forum</dc:subject>

<item waste ink counter or service required issue Lights flashing together is a general error and thats covered also Please read earlier posts itll save you a lot of hassle in the long run nobody else has pointed this out already You can easily install an external waste ink tank on the RX500 by redirecting and extending the waste tube which can be found just behind the little access hatch in the back of the printer If you do a little googling for waste ink rx500 you should find theres guide kits andor instructions for fitting them I do have my own kits that I sell but if you find them great but Ill let you have some fun with detective work :

<dc:subject>InkJet
