 | Canon MP600, error 5110 by rpolder (10/21/09 8:19 AM) reply | + / - | I have a Canon MP600 and am receiving an error 5110. When powering on, I hear a series of clicks like maybe the ink cartridge carriage is trying to move, but it stuck, and the gears are jumping. Then the error 5110 comes up.
I can not manually move the carriage and it is stuck over on the very right side, hidden by the printer structure. How do you take this printer apart to be able to see what is possibly hanging the carriage?
I searched the forums and it sounds like the carriage is stuck in the "service station", but I can't figure out how to get the printer apart enough to see in. I finally got a cover off the right side (Gee, Canon doesn't make this obvious and I'm very mechanically inclined). I can see the bottom of a white gear, and a black gear. I can turn the white gear, but feel resistance, and it feels like the carriage "hops" over the tooth and stays put.
Any help is much appreciated.
Thanks, Robert

I managed to take apart the unit as much as I could, but never could get the right side open enough to see what was hanging. I did manage to get the carriage unlocked. I turned it back on, and it went right back to the right side and locked again. I heard the clicks again. So, mine is pretty much junk at this point.
Only bright side is that my MP830 at home was giving me a Print Head error, so when I finally got the MP600 carriage to move, I swapped out the print heads and now my 830 at home is working again.
