Hey everyone, I just got done working on an lj4300. Replaced all the maintenance kit parts, as well as a gear inside the printer that was broken. Before all the repairs, it would do this image defect where it would leave black lines from about 1/4 of the page down and it is random locations. It also gives the black circles in random locations. I cant remember what causes these defects and the manual doesnt really explain much. I think the DC controller board may be bad, or a cable could be connected on the wrong location on the printer?
I had a customer recently who brought in an HP 4000 with image problems. I suspected the cartridge, but the customer said he'd just put a new one in. Sure enough, it looked new but felt suspiciously light. Weighed it and an empty one. It actually weighed less than the empty (waste toner would account for that). It was an OEM. Don't ever go by the fact that it's new or the customer says it's new as that will mess up your troubleshooting. In my case, it wasn't the toner cartridge, but I told the customer to return it because it wasn't going to last very long. Guess the toner fill machine must have missed it or ran out of toner while filling it. Great quality control HP!
