 | HP PSC 2410 - How to use the scanner without ink?! by neononcon (5/7/09 3:31 PM) reply | + / - | So I have another printer for "printing"... and epson C86 (it's great).
But I want to use my hp or scanning. It just keeps flashing the "Remove and check print cartridges" message and won't let me scan.
Does this thing really have to has full ink cartridges to scan? Scanning has NOTHING to do with ink =/

I somehow got past the blinking "check cartridge" screen and used the scanner wizard in XP. But now I moved and reset everything and I can't get it to do anything without replacing the ink.
Anyone know how to disable that crap?? This printer won't even let me access the settings until I put new ink in.

I solved the problem. I went here: http://h10025.www1.hp.com and downloaded those drivers. Then I went to my control panel and clicked "printers and other hardware" then "scanners and cameras" and on the left I "added an imaging device".
This put a scanner icon in that window which I clicked and now allows me to scan without having to the anything to the printer.
The lights still blink, and the remove ink cartridges message is still there but at least it lets me do what I want now.
