No Subject

I just bought a new black cartridge because it said it was low and installed it and went to do the alignment thing and it didnt print any color...the black ink is fine and it has a red line at the top but nothing else. Printing a picture its black and white and it says the color level is barely used....its 2 notches below full. I cant find anything in the troubleshoot or lexmark.com that helps! any suggestions? and i also use xp!

It might help if you would state the printer brand and model in the title of this post. Just a generic statement, but did the color work fine just before you installed black? I assume this has a black and color cart, not 4 carts? Try to remove, wipe contacts with rubbing alcohol on the color cartridge and reinstall, perhaps the printer doesn't think you have a color cart installed. (my hp 845 would do that occasionally and there was a software setting to tell the driver there was a color and b/w cartridge installed as opposed to one or the other) Good Luck

sorry i assumed because i was in the the thread it posted to that thread...the printer is a lexmark 1200 series!
