i m having SAMSUNG ML-1640 .it stopped at 2100 pages . in smart panel it gives message TONER EXAUSTED PLEASE HELP
please provide picture for reseting the page count .and specify clearly which pins should i short .when pin is shorted what to do should i turn on printer .or should i turn my computer please provide step by step

you need buy a new cartridge or a reset chip. Reset chip is cheaper and you still used your old cartridge. I'm having that printer now. I hate it!!! >_<

Hi all, i found this document http://www.arbikas.com/forum/Attachments/ML1640_reset.pdf i think it gives the same explanation as the russian site. You have to shorten the 2 pins of the chip inside the printer and you'll never find the need of a reset chip in the toner cartridge :). I'm about to try it

I just brought this printer a few months ago and I was shocked that it stopped at 2100....I then took this risk..and thought to try it...connected the first and fourth leg...Now its working fine and reset to 0 Page...thanks again...
Note: this is my fourth refill...works fine...

I have same problem with my Samsung ML 1640. I have tried this solution http://www.arbikas.com/forum/Attachments/ML1640_reset.pdf but it does not seem to solve my print's toner exhausted msg. I connected pins in accordance to the pic and the russian website http://www.ots45.ru/support/samsung1640.html (Of course i use google translate, and i disconnect the pins several seconds after i plug my print). The result have disappointed me. My print works some time and i can print some documents. But it shows toner exhausted for most times. I am going to buy a resetted chip and this maybe the only solution.

What does the above message mean? Which pin is CN5 and which pin is CN9? The whole chip only has 8 pins! And what does it mean to "short out" CN9?

But on a question: whether It is possible to use somehow a starting cartridge repeatedly, having filled with its inexpensive toner? - Already there is an affirmative answer.

downgradeing / upgradeing the bios fixes that problem. when the printer stops press the button (on the printer) until led flashs. you can see the bios version as the OS version on the printed page.if no newer bios version is not present. you can down grade the bios using older version.

dear sir i have purchased samsung printer ml-1640 from date of september-09 and i have all ready joint to pin as i have a seen image... but did not working and i cant be using this printer... this printer cant to be edited your dealer. also i cant do it reseling this printer... Thanks all you for posts! I reset ML-1640_V1.01.00.66 with this flasher. And works fine with starter cartrige, but if i buy a new cartrige (have chip inside) and then i still use flasher and reset bios and still print? Or i need short pins, when i replace new one cartrige?

Sorry, but a have bad news. Today i flash ML-1640 with V.1.01.00.91 ( October 2009 ). And flash don't works. May be with this version flash not work more.

All you need to do download the file, unzip it to a folder on your desktop, turn off the printer, go into the folder, run the ms-dos batch file, turn your printer back on and it will be reset!
The motto of this story - don't buy Samsung again!

I also have this Idiot Printer ML 1640, the Maker of this printer must be a real stupid.
Please help me on fallowing issues. where is ML1640_V1010060.fls locaed. i though have downloaded usbprns.exe from internet.
the second solution was to short the 1st and 4th pin of EEPROM 93Ñ66. but unfortunately i was unable to locate this IC On the PCB. Please someone help me to locate this IC with the help of a picture of the printed circuit board

i have a samsung ml-1640 laser printer using in our cyber cafe. print is very good , good performance......but maximum output 750-850 copies only....not 1000 copies. ink refill charge in trivandrum is 400/- ink recharger said..to remove present toner and add new high capacity toner, and get more above 2000 copiesin single toner...that is all

Hi Yamin, I read your posting for resetting the counter on the Samsung ML-1640 printer, I downloaded the files you showed (I havent a CLUE how I got this to work, because I am a TOTAL DUNCE with computers) Anyway I downloaded the files and it says to "drag" one of the files on top of the other, my computer said it couldnt "open" the files and recommended "unzipping" them, I did this and then it still wouldnt "open" the files, but I did "drag" one of the files on to the top of the other and then the green light went Orange on the printer and I thought "Oh God, what have I done??!!! and then I turned off the printer and turned it on again and it showed the light as green and the red flashing light went out. I had already refilled the toner cartridge so I knew it was totally full, even though the test page was only showing 480 prints and 8% toner, anway on turning the printer on again and the green light on, I did the test page and it showed ZERO prints and toner -100% - So it must have worked!! Oh what a relief it is to have people who can solve these problems, as when one is alone and does not know what to do it is a NIGHTMARE!!! thanks for your post, I will copy and paste it to my documents folder in case I have to use it again. Will I have to do this each time I refill the toner cartridge?? thanks PCDUNCE

The Samsung ML 1640 printer uses the mlt-d1082s toner cartridge, which can only print an estimated 1500 pages so a refill is more than welcome. You will need toner and a new chip. There are chips available from manufacturers such as Sky and others. You can also build a strap on the 93C66 memory between pins 1 and 4 but it won`t work forever.

I have refilled my cartridge without doing any modification etc and it worked. The only thing is that now it's not printing well, does it have anything to do with the chip or reset counter? it printed well for sometime but now the black is not that black anymore and print seems a whitened clear fotocopy.

I'm a woman and I did this - joined points 3 and 4 on the circuit mentioned by way of a screwdriver with plastic handle .... had to do it a few times, but it's reset to zero and I avoided electrocution. Don't know how this worked, but it did... I'm happy.... till it stops working again!

** My original printer firmware was 1.01.00.91 (Toner was Exhausted)
** Could not downgrade to older firmware, bcos firmware newer than 1.01.00.83 doen't allowed it (so, shorting pins 1 & 4 (or 2&3) could not help me)
** Now ( the good news), i have upgraded to 1.01.0093f (patch version) and.. Total Page Count/Toner remaining/Toner Status: 0/100(%)/Normal....(Its sooo beautiful..no more toner exhausted...i can print it now...Buttttt)...
*** the printed output is WEIRD..fonts are too big...doesn't fit in A4 eventhough i have typed document in A4 paper size...and set output paper size to A4...it never print the whole text (some bottom part of the document is always missing)
*** Anyone facing this issue...and anyone know how to FIX it... Please HELP, i'll be very thankful to you...
*** i even upgrade it to 1.01.0096f ( NO LUCK...fonts are looking even bigger...do not show all the texts on the printed paper)
