 | LaserWriter Select 360 by jon (9/6/00 6:22 AM) reply | + / - | My Apple LaserWriter Select 360 has 22,000 pages on it and has begun printing in gray rather than black. It is fairly uniform across the page and rocking the toner and replacing the toner doesn't help. No setting in the LaserWriter Utility helps. What can the problem be, how can I obtain the parts, and where can I get installation instructions? Please help!

 | Re: LaserWriter Select 360 by moe (9/6/00 8:45 PM) reply | + / - | Sounds like dirty optics to me. We have an instructional video on disassembly and cleaning on our Printer Repair Kit page. Please note the difficulty level scale. I would not suggest any but experienced techs attempt this without video guidance.

I guess they must have all been successful. It's not that difficult a job, just a lot of screws and disassembly of components. Watch the video once and familiarize yourself with the procedure. Good luck.

 | Re: LaserWriter Select 360 by Tony Guerry (1/2/01 1:15 PM) reply | + / - | Will do. Can't wait to get the printer back to printing 100% of the page. I print out invoices on it now at 90% and have been slowly decreasing that number over the months. Looking forward to your video. Thanks for the opportunity. I read about your website in MacAddict.

 | Re: LaserWriter Select 360 by Dick Johnson (1/4/01 2:37 PM) reply | + / - | Fantastic video: Re: Fading right edge problems on LaserWriter Select 360. At the very end the narrator/technician mentions resetting a switch from #4 back to #0. Could use more information of what those numbers represent and how to generate test prints when not actually hooked up to a computer. Thanks.

 | Re: LaserWriter Select 360 by moe (1/4/01 3:01 PM) reply | + / - | The numbers are for communication. Different settings are for PC or Mac, different baud rates. The Mac setting is 0, to generate a test print 4. I'd have to look at the book to see what the others mean. If the printer does a start up sheet, you can change the settings and it'll print out the config on the start up page.
