paper comes out with fold by Astrid J Scheper (2/17/09 9:33 AM) reply + / -
my Minolta magicolor 2300 DL creates a fold on the printed page. seems like a mechanical problem. I wonder what part to replace and how to get it.

I have managed to repair my printer myself.

The following solenoids SL4 (Transport roller solenoid) and SL5 (Timing roller solenoid) have a small square pad which insulates one part of the solenoid from another. Over time these small pads move and electrical insulation is lost. This causes specific problems depending on which solenoid is involved.

A faulty pad on the timing roller solenoid causes printing to start half way down the page (this problem has been covered before in this forum).

If the faulty pad problem happens on the transport roller solenoid this results in the paper being folded / concertina'd.

Both of the solenoids can be reached by removing side panels and circuit boards inside the printer and replacing the little 4mm x 4mm x 1mm approx pad.

In the case of SL4 this is made much harder as the solenoid is behind a circuit board which has between 20 and 30 sockets that have to be disconnected before the board can be removed to reveal SL4 for repair but with care and patience it can be done.

This repair process is made easier with the help of the printer service manual which helps to identify all of the parts involved.

This manual can often be found for sale on eBay but I would be willing to send this manual in PDF format if anyone is desperate.

Don't scrap your printer if it has the above problem as with care it CAN be fixed.

If anyone requires any further info on this repair please contact me here:
