yes - replace it. that model is like the lowest most budget Canon inkjet there is and im pretty certain for that reason there are no spare parts avalable anyway.

replace it.

Thanks for reply. I have got printer working again by turning off AC supply, then holding down power button as I reconnected AC supply. It may only be a stop gap and by placing a tray under printer if ink does leak out then my desk is protected and I will buy another. Colin

Instructions on resetting the waste ink counters are here:
http://inkjet-laser.com
This also has a link to the service tool....

Service manual for IP1500 is here:
http://rs218.rapidshare.com/files/80460793/iP1500sm.rar

YOu can remove the top case by unscrewing the 2 screws inside
the front flap.

With a bit of fiddling you can remove & clean the waste ink pads
Then use the service tool to reset the counters

Good Luck!!

I have just fixed my Canon Pixma iP 1500! I figured I had nothing to lose by trying. I disconnected it and tripped the mechanism that allows the ink cartridges to move over. At this point I could see two small rectangular pads. Very carefully, I pried each out, cleaned them and cleaned around the area with Q-tips. I placed the two pads back in, held down the power button and reconnected the power. Try it - you have nothing to lose!
