HP Color LaserJet 5500 Setup problem

Hello, When I try to set up a HP CLJ 5500 using HP software on Windows XP (HP Easy Printer Care) and on OS X it does not find the system. All other HP systems show up but not the HP CLJ 5500. I can only set it up using an installed IP. I assume that with the HP software it searches for the hardware address. What has caused this function not to work for the HP CLJ 5500. Thanks. Andre
