Hi, I am a small business owner who recently purchased an Okidata C3400 laser printer. I plan on printing 1,000 -2,000 flyers a month. After ordering 500 grams of each toner and reading most of the oki postings, I am almost ready to get started. For most oki printers it sounds like there is no need to replace the smart chip, since the printer can be reset. Is this also true for the C3400? Since there is not an LCD on this model what is the procedure for resetting the toner values? (I purchased one set of chips as a back up and plan on refilling the toner before going below 20% so the chip won’t trigger.) I really want to avoid the $12.00 chip replacement for each cartridge.
Without this forum I would have never known to empty the waste side of the cartridge and would have damaged the drum gears. Good job to all that posted this info!!
Also, is there a reset for the toner drum that would alleviate the need to replace the fuse? This has been covered for other oki models but not the C3400.
Thanks for the answers to these questions and any other maintenance tips for this model. Sincerely, Mark
