 | HP Laserjet 1100 - Blank page out put problem by adnan chatha (7/3/08 3:58 AM) reply | + / - | 3/7/2008 - HP LaserJet 1100 is not printing anything and returns blank page. Toner was taken to vendor place. To fix the problem toner was refilled, drum was changed and test page printing showed 100 % good result.
Strange facts about the scenario are as under:
- Printer did print a few pages at home after that there was blank page out put .
- Printer's vendor serviced printer, cleaned it thoroughly and also checked if there was any cable or connection was loose. Printer was tested at Vendor's lab and result was fine.
- When checked at home it was giving blank page out put agin.
- To overcome any bias power cable was changed at home , paper was also changed to see if result could be improved , none of these changes worked.
- Printer's out put is still blank sheets of paper.
- Fault is unkown for both , vendor and user.
Any help to fix the problem would be appreciated.
Thanks.

If not, uninstall your driver and re-install it.

If that page prints then you have a communication issue which could be the driver, cable or ports on either the printer or computer and removing and changing the printer cable would be the first item. If it still prints black pages, take the printer with your papaer down to where it was serviced and do the same test without the printer connected to a computer and it should still print blank and the vendor will have to resolove the issue for you.

 | Re: HP Laserjet 1100 - Blank page out put problem by adnan chatha (7/4/08 11:51 AM) reply | + / - | Thanks for your reply. Demo or test page from the printer comes blank. when same operation is repeated at vendor place, demo page comes out normal.
when I print from computer result is always blank sheets except once when 5 to 6 pages were printed. Sometimes very dim and vague characters apper, that is rare.
Almost all of the printing is blank either from computer or by pressing go or demo button.
Vendor never checked printer by connecting it to computer. There is normally demo outpup that shows 100% result.

Do it at your place first to make sure it is still blank. If it works at the vendor's give it to him since it obviously does not like you.

 | Re: HP Laserjet 1100 - Blank page out put problem by adnan chatha (7/5/08 12:46 AM) reply | + / - | Yes, I should take printer back to the vendor again. May be, printer doesn't like me. There might be magical spell on my desk that bounds printer not to print as vendor saya :-) laughs ;
I normally print at 100 gram Paper. Papers were changed to different gram and quality, it doesn't make any difference.
There could be a deffective capacitor in the power supply of the printer.when it takes full volts it works and when it gets cold, it doesn't print.
If this would be the fault then how could the test page been printed every time at vendor place.
I will have to take it back to the vendor miles away 3rd time though it's pain full exercise in extremly hot weather.
I will get back once problem is solved.
Thanks again guys for your valuable input.

Unplug the printer overnight before you are going to take it in. Now before you leave, plug it back in a run the self test by pressing the button. If it comes out blank, take the printer and your paper to the vendor and have them try it. This way you take any chance of any component on the main board as having some effect. Have the vendor plug the printer in front of you and do the test in front of you.

 | Re: HP Laserjet 1100 - Blank page out put problem by adnan chatha (7/17/08 7:12 AM) reply | + / - | Thanks for your postings. Yes, I checked printer and it was printing blank I unplugged the printer and took it to the vendor with papers. Vendor checked printer and yes it didn't print this time at vendor's place.
I have been working on the scenario by visiting other threads on the internet. I found one solution interesting for similar problem, solution was as under.
If printer is giving blank output insert one page and press go button: - when page disapper from paper tray just open the printer and pull out the cartridge.
-if there are characters on toner's drum shield it means transforming roller is faulty.
-if there is nothing on drum's shield it menas that laser or main board is faulty.
In short, vendor was unable to find the fault and was going to open the toner. The drum could be short he wss thinking.
I asked him if he could check the main board again. The main board was changed and Printer started printing.
I checked the faulty main board throughly that was brought to me from vendor's lab and came to conclusion that an IC (integrated circuit) was loose under the main board that was causing problem.
Printer has been printing fine since that day. It seems a long way with time and money consumption towards the solution.
It could be much easier at home if any manual about the opening of printer would have been posted on the internet. It is not easy and simple to open HP laserjet 1100.
Anyway, I am glad printer is working.
Thanks againg guys.
I learned good things.
