Phaser 8200 cleaning cycle

Phaser 8200 cleaning cycle by barcodenow (4/18/08 12:44 PM) reply + / -
I recently purchased a used Phaser 8200 to replace a broken Phaser 860. As it worked out, the Phaser 8200 needed a new printhead; the 860 printhead works fine. Swapped the ink tray also so we can use the 860 ink.

It appears that EVERY time the 8200 comes out of standby it runs a cleaning cycle. Dumps a lot of ink in the tray.

Any suggestions on how to stop this?

Thanks in advance!

Tom

Try doing a NVRAM reset...
from the front menu find the troubleshooting menu and the service toos menu and usually there should be a NVRAM reset. This will wipe out your network settings so record them first.

I've no need for the 8200 ink, as I've converted the printer to 860. How much do you want for one of the trays?

I'm in the same situation. I have a damaged 860DP and got an 8200 that just needed replacment heater lamps. Now I have quite a bit of 860 ink and none for the 8200. Can I just move the ink loader from the 860 to the 8200 and still use the 860 ink? Will that damage the 8200 printhead?

Thanks,

Bruce

Bruce:

I did swap the ink tray from the 860 to the 8200 after being told that there were 3 P/N's that were different between the 2 printers, and that the printhead wasn't one of them.

As it turned out, the 8200 also needed a new printhead. Swapped that from the 860 as well.

All works fine, having run several thousand sheets so far.

So is using the 8200 printhead, the 860 inkloader and ink a viable option? The reason I hesitate to install the 860 printhead, is I'm not sure it functions properly. My 860 has some serious issues. During warmup, I hear a 60 HZ hum then the printer shuts off. I have replaced the power supply, power control board and the drum/paper heater, with no change. The only items left I can think of is the printhead or the cap/wipe/purge assy. I'm not getting any fault codes to indicate the failed part, and the printer will not stay up long enough to run any diagnostics.

Thanks,

Bruce

Hello Anonymous,

I'd be interested in your 8200 ink....

Let me know what you want for it if it's still available.

thanks.
