Okidata B6300 - "Set Drum/Toner Cartridge" Message by okihelp (edited 10/5/07 8:32 AM) reply + / -
Hi. A while back I purchased OKI 52114501 B6200/B6300 Toner/Drums for my Okidata B6300's. My last cartridge just died and I popped in the new one and am receiving a "Set Drum/Toner Cartridge" Message and the machine locks up.

I went over the cartridge with a fine tooth comb and it looks exactly like the one I removed.

I called OKI and they stated that I should have purchased the 52114502 B6300 cartridge instead of the 52114501 B6200/B6300 one, because it does not work with the B6300.

My stock of 5($180 each) cartridges are now unreturnable because they were purchased over 90 days ago.

I asked OKI if there was anyway to reset the message because they look exactly alike and they said no I needed to purchase the other cartridge.

Can anyone help me? (Thank You)

You need to get a cartridge which does work, to allow you to get into the printers Menuing system.

Press the Menu button
GO to "Admin Menu"
Select "System Settings"
Select "Drum/Toner Life"
Choose "Continue Print"
(press Feed/Select - which places a * next to the field)
press the Menu button again to exit

You keep receiving a message but the orange attention light does not turn on and you can continue to print.

Good Luck.

There is a chip (black Circle about an inch in diameter with two clips attaching it) on the right side of the cartridge which may be malfunctioning.

Hi
I am having the same problem. I changed the Drum/Toner Life
setting. And Installed a new drum for a B6300 . The message
still appears . The printer still prints with this message
on the display . But the Field Engineer who originally did
the call says the printer will lock up after about 50 pages
looking for a new Drum/Toner Cartridge.
Any more ideas on this problem would be appreciated.
