If you mean that maybe half of the line is missing like there is a problem with the printhead but later one line is fine and then later half is missing, then you need to perform an accuracy calibration since the x axis (up and down positioning) is off and that is the only way to correct it.

If it has to print the test page for example, it prints in BLACK, the first letter of the word "Page" and then prints the other letters in MAGENTA, four and a half centimeters to the right. Therefore it is impossible to perform a calibration test or any test for that matter. Is there any remedy for this? Many thanks in advance.

 | Re: HP designjet 450C Skips Line when plotting by dmzcompute (1/26/08 7:15 PM) reply | + / - | It is not imposssible to perform tests on this plotter if you know what to do. You need to go to the link below and download the service manaul for the plotter and perform what is known as an accuracy calibration. You need to follow the instructions in the manaul. But first I would clean the encoder strip which runs behind and thru the carriage assembly. I would also remove all the cartridges and clean the edges of all of them. It could be as simple as your service station is real dirty and excess ink is getting on the cartridges which is then smearing it. I would also clean the service station on the left side and make sure there is not a mound of ink in the spitoon on the right side. Just follow the instructions in the manual for printing an accuracy calibration and you can use plain white paper rather than matte film but make sure if using plain paper you choose paper on the media setting and not film. Also the accuracy calibration only prints in black so you should not have the issue you are having. In fact before the accuray calibration I would after cleaning everything I would print the demo plot by pressing the top left and bottom right buttons at the same time and see what it looks like. You may have an issue with your driver.
