HP 6127 Belt

HP 6127 Belt by Uncle Time (11/7/06 8:03 PM) reply + / -
My HP Deskjet 6127 printer has no problem. But, the carriage belt on my Deskjet 722C is falling apart. In researching this board, I find the belt is a common failure item. I have ordered a belt for the 722C, but want a to get a spare for my Deskjet 6127 while they are still available. I have had no success with identifying the proper belt. It appears to be the same belt on both printers, part number C4557-40049. Can you verify that is the right part for my Deskjet 6127 printer?

I don't think the 722C belt will work on the 6127.

The 6127 is similar to the 900 Series printers, and you could get over 20,000 pages out of those belts, I can't recall ever seeing one break.

If you get some lubricant and clean and relube the carriage rail once a year you'll probably never need a belt for the 6127.

The other thing you will need is:

How often do you need to clean the rollers? That depends on the quality of the paper you use, either HP or Xerox branded paper will run with few jams, and not coat the rollers in dust.

And you'll have to clean out the service station once a year or so, how often really depends on how much you print.

The 900 series instructions will help with that, but the covers come off differently, they're a little bit like the 722C covers.

Here's this sites whole list of handy items to have when fixing printers:
