I recently bought an HP4550n black toner cartridge from red tag toner. The box has a returned shipping label from Delta Airlines dated 5-20-2004. The box is unopened, but I am wondering if toner can go bad with age.

I would say not likely if it has been sesaled, but I have seen cases of other components in the cart going bad, stuck blades, etc. :-)PCRMike

If the cartridge has a drum in it, then yes it can go bad with age. What typically fails is the drum wiper blade. Since your cartridge is just toner, I wouldn't worry about it. Toner does not degrade with age.
