hp director has only 2 icons

i;m really having alot of trouble with this hp psc 1350 all in one printer. I have uninstall/install several times but when i open the hp director, i only get 2 icons. HP support says the software hasn't completely installed. NO KIDDING. When doing a install it gets to a certain point and everything just quits. How can i get this thing installed 100% (win xp home)

go to control panel. open it. there there is an icon that ssys scanners and cameras - open it. there is the icon for your scanner -open it - there's the scanning page - click preview
