Hello all. I found this site and wanted to say that I am a Konica Minolta tech and I will be happy to answer any questions to the best of my ability for Konica Minolta printers. I have access to many of the printer models and will do what I can to answer your questions.

Konica MInolta pp1300 problem by Petres (9/7/06 12:11 PM) reply + / -
Hi!
I have KM Pagepro 1300W printer, and prints dirty pages.
I tried to print with another parts (another toner cartidges and drum cartidges). The problem comes from drum cartidge, the black toner cartidge works properly. I tried to clean the cleaner parts above the drum, but didn't work. I have 2 drum cartidges with this problem. The drums are good, I tried with another drum cartidge.
What can i do? If somebody has any ideas please share with me. Thanks

Hello,

Where do you get your toners from? Also do you refill your toners?

Re: Konica Questions answered here by scotty (9/8/06 9:15 AM) reply+3 + / -
Am working on a Magicolor 2300 DL that sometimes fails to lift the paper tray up and thus says media jam. Sometimes it also fails to pick paper when only a small amount of paper in tray too, even though the tray is lifted. Any ideas? On this site someone said the Epson c 900 is the same printer and they had a modification for this tray lift problem. Any help would be appreciated!

Re: Konica Questions answered here by Konica-Minolta Tech (9/8/06 11:18 PM) reply + / -
Try cleaning the media rollers with 409 solution. The media feed rollers become dirty after a certain amount of prints. The toner is a wax based toner so excess wax gets on them after a while. Dirty media feed rollers can also cause image shifting problems. I hope this helps you.

Re: Konica Questions answered here by yawny (9/13/06 9:12 AM) reply+2 + / -
Sorry, my last message got clipped somehow.

We have seen this seemingly "fake" media jam issue in the 2300DL for a year now ("fake" because the paper never gets picked up and so never actually "jams", but whatever).

It just looks to me like a mechanical issue. I'm no printer tech, but in most other lasers (HPs, etc) the paper tray lifts, or pushes up a little on the paper stack, via springs, coils, or other mechanical means. But ours just lies sort of flat and down all the way. Pushing down on the paper tray seems to have no effect.

I gather that the design here is a little different, there is a solenoid or relay that activates paper pickup mode, or something like that -- in which case the solution would probably be to replace the board, which we aren't gonna do at this point, since new color printers are around $350-400.

Unless there's some other fix? I will try to clean the rollers, but it just seems to me that dirty rollers is not the issue. If we pile in paper to the maximum height, paper picks up OK. But once it dips down a certain amount, paper never gets picked up (because the tray isn't lifting it up) and so the rollers never engage.

So, uh...what the heck.

Re: Konica Questions answered here by dmzcompute (9/13/06 2:47 PM) reply + / -
The one trick which worked for me a couple of times is to apply a lot of pressue to the center of the pickup opening without any paper in the tray. You could even try hitting like a rubber mallet in the center of the tray and see what happens. After applying the pressure or hitting with a mallet load with paper, turn on and see what happens.

I have a Konica Minolta 1300w which incorrectly states that I have a paper jam. I have removed the toner and I can't see anything stuck inside. My assumption is that there is dirt on the sensor, but I don't know where it is. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance, Babar

Re: Konica Questions answered here by dmzcompute (10/22/06 6:47 PM) reply + / -
I do not know your printer, but sensors never go bad. What usually happens is the flag which runs thru the sensor opening and either blocks light or clears the opening is stuck in the wrong postion. Look for any plastic moving parts which look like they move in the direction of the paper path and then should return by spring action towards the oposite direction. Make sure it is in a like up position ready to be pressed down by the paper moving thru the printer. If in the pressed down position you will get the paper jam message.

HI, I have a customer with a Minolta Dialta 1610 with the message that the memory card is full. Two technicians later she has been told that they do not know why this is happening and that she will have to get a replacment card which will cost over $1200.00. Is there any way to reset the memory card. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Hi,

I have a minolta color pageworks printer. It has genuine toner cartridges and drum. It started printing with greenish yellow blots streaked along the page verically. Even the test page from the rom comes out the same. I replaced all the toner cartridges and cleaned the printed and it is still there. It has about 65000 images printed. Do not know what to do.

Help and Thanks

I have a Konica Minolta 3300 that we put a new Imaging Unit in the printer, now the printer can not find it (“IMAGING UNIT MISSING”). We reinstalled it several time and receiving the same error massage. We tried reinstalling the old unit, still not working. I do not feel that it’s an Imaging Unit problem. Could you help?

To yellowLine designs: there is a part called a slider, the problem has been resolved on the newest of these printers but on the older ones it will foul on the drive mechanism. Due to copyright I cannot post the pics up on the forum but if you send me a message with your email then I will send them to you. its very easy to fix and costs $0

I will go through the posts above and answer what I can (I am a getronics tech, we fix printers for minolta)

My posts on this forum are my personal opinion and not a reflection of the processes or procedures of either Konica-Minolta or Getronics. My advise is offered freely based on my personal knowledge.

Re: Konica Questions answered here by nothos (3/26/07 7:58 PM) reply + / -
Damn, double post :)
scotty, yawny: you need a new paper pickup assy, the early/mid versions of the printer didn't have a clutch on the drive cogs, and they break, if you order a new assy then it will fix your printer, but you have to take a lot of your printer apart to get to it so if your not comfortable then don't do it, buy a new one, unfortunately I don't have any on the shelf at the moment so I cannot give you a part number, but if you speak to konica minolta they will know straight away, so will most printer repair places.

Mt top inn: bugger, toner rack not rotating, could be the rack motor, rack clutch, or pwba pwbb, if you can hear the toner rack rotating then its just the sensor/sensor flag, clean the sensor, and make sure that the flag passes through it.

mari: by drum do you mean the green roller? if so then was it exposed to sunlight for long? yes=get a new one, also try to reseat the transfer belt assy

chas williams: don't buy it off ebay, remove the fuse from your current one, replace it wil a piece of wire, put it in your printer an turn it on, wait for it to get to idle, turn it off and remove the piece of wire, this will reset the count

ken trawick: as above

engineer1000: its the contact sensor, find it on the imaging unit, then clean the corresponding on inside the printer (its easier to find it outside of the printer if you don't know where it is) if this fails then you may need to replace PWB-B, if so, hope it under warranty

hope this helps people

How do I change the drum on my Konica Minolta 2300.
I live in a remote area and have to do most things myself.

Re: Re: Konica Questions answered here by nothos (3/27/07 4:28 PM) reply + / -
easy, open the front door of the printer, inside you will see a waste toner bottle, remove it by pulling it from near the top towards you, then you will see near the middle (slightly to the top) a lever, should be blue or a purple color, it will be pointing straight down, turn this clockwise till it wont turn anymore, then you will be able to remove the old drum, note: it has a release button on the underside of the bit that you grab onto to pull it out, have a quick look at the new one if you can't get it and you will see what I mean.

Cheers

I just changed the toner on my magicolor 2400 and now I get the 17h error, call support.

How can I fix this? I know there was someone else having problems with this too. Should I do the short circuit thing? I guess resetting the thing wouldn't hurt would it? at this point I am ready to throw this thing in the river!

Thanks for the heads up on the paper pickup assy but I have a couple questions I hope you might be able to help me with.

In researching the part online, I have found a wide discrepancy in prices - from $15-75 - despite identical part #'s: 8314131-0450-02. Does this sound right to you?

Also, I can't seem to find any documentation on magicolor 2300 disassembly and/or paper pickup assembly installation. Any help, suggestions or direction would be appreciated!

Thanks,

One of my 2430Dls has finally given me a "Drum cartridge end of life" message (two weeks ago), but it is still printing perfectly. I have a fresh drum waiting in the wings, but hate to replace the old one while it's still functioning - will this do any damage?

QMS3100 - REPLACE TRANSFER UNIT - unit changed but error message will not go. Tried accessing Operator Panel but display comes up with WAITING FOR IDLE. Tried disconnecting from network and removing paper trays but no effect. Any suggestions?

Re: Konica Questions answered here by nothos (4/12/07 3:37 PM) reply + / -
Carls: Error 17H is a rack rotation failure, chances are that when you have replaced the toners one of them is not sitting right and it is stopping the rack from rotating, if you can select "remove toner" on the display that is on your printer, remove all of the toners, then select "install toner" and reinstall all of them, also chack for any physical damage on anything around the toner rack, or something (like a small piece of paper) jammed in the right hand side of the toner rack. If this doesn't help feel free to send me an email and I will ask some more detailed questions.

Stace: I have sent you an email, but will put it out in the open anyway. Buy the part off minolta if you can, if not buy it off seacroft, the price difference is just people making money. Also, I only have the guide in hardcopy, for some unknown and stupid reason, but I am happy to fax it to you for free, but it is 34 pages, so make sure you have plenty of paper avail.

Joanopra: it won't damage anything, just replace it when the quality gets to a level that you aren't happy with, If it changes to "End of life" and won't let you print anymore, then you will need to do the "drum reset" fix mentioned above.

Dselby: The most common cause of top to bottom streaks is dust/dirt on the photo imaging unit, just clean it with a dry lint free cloth.

twilliams: I don't do much work with your printer, but will look it up for you either this arvo, or during the weekend, depends on how busy work is today.

Cheers

Ashley

Hi!

I have a 2430DL that now refuses to pick up paper from the standard tray unless I "assist" by pushing each sheet in when the printer needs one. The problem is now such that I get a media jam on it on just about all prints and have to open/close the top door to reset it.
Can you advise me as to what to do to rectify this? If something requires cleaning could you point me to a dissasembly guide and also tell me what solution I could use (I'd rather use a household product - meths, white spirit etc if possible!) The printer is just out of its 1 month warranty unfortunately!

Many thanks!

Try doing a DRAM clear in Service Mode. I have had to do this a few times when faxes or print jobs get bunged up in the memory. I believe that the Di1610 only has 128kb of onboard memory. To do this, enter service mode (Utility, Stop, 0,0,Stop,0,1) and search through the listings for the clear function. Hit yes and locate the DRAM clear, hit yes and then restart the machine.

Re: Re: Konica Questions answered here by Anonymous (5/9/07 8:32 PM) reply + / -
Sound like your ITB cleaning blade has failed or is in the process of failing. They are pretty easy to change, but you will have to get the part from a KMBS authorized service center. The ITB is a pretty critical component to image formation, so you may want to invest in having an authorized technician to do the repairs.

Re: Re: Konica Questions answered here by Anonymous (5/9/07 8:35 PM) reply + / -
I have run into this error a couple times. The "authorized fix" from Konica Tech Support is to open the toner compartment door to expose the Image Transfer Belt Assembly and near the top you should see a metal plate with two large springs on either end. Pull the plate in the direction the springs allow it to go about a half inch then allow it to snap back into place. This has fixed two printers so far that I have been sent to repair. Good luck.

Re: Konica Minolta 2430dl question by Anonymous (5/9/07 8:38 PM) reply + / -
Run it until it stops, the drum life counter is based on how many pages have gone through the printer, not how much life is left. The printed images will start looking like crap when the drum is dead.

Re: Re: Re: Konica Questions answered here by Anonymous (5/9/07 8:41 PM) reply + / -
This may seem dumb, but try putting more paper in the tray. If this still does not fix the problem, remove the feed tire (it's dark grey and looks like a half moon) and clean it with some rubber renue or windex. This will last for about a month and then it will lose its tack again. Time to get a new feed tire from your KM dealer (about 8 bucks a piece.)

Re: Re: Re: Re: Konica Questions answered here by chrisjon (5/14/07 12:10 AM) reply + / -
Thank you! I cleaned the feed tire and no more pickup problems! Took me about 30 seconds! I'll keep cleaning it until I need to replace it.

I have a 2430DL, bought new which came with low ink toners. I don't use it often, only few pages per week for schools, but recently, the prints came out very fuzzy, and I check the menu, it shows that there's 36% left for black toner (>=75 left for other color); I thought because it was low in ink so I added some refill ink into the black toner, but that still doesn't help. I check the drum and it still looks good. Please help anyone!

Re: Konica Questions answered here by Phil S (5/31/07 2:08 PM) reply + / -
albengy

You answered your own question I believe. It was printing fine before you "refilled" it. Get rid of your "refill".

"before that the print quality was fine"

"because it was low in ink so I added some refill ink into the black toner"

Re: Re: Konica Questions answered here by albengy (6/1/07 8:54 AM) reply + / -
oh no, I meant it printed fine for awhile, then the print quality all the sudden got fuzzy even thought the black ink level was still at 36%, so I thought because it was low in ink and added the refill ink.

Re: Konica Questions answered here by RCheesley (7/2/07 11:57 AM) reply+1 + / -
Are you sure the toners are empty? We have had this problem on numerous 23xx and 24xx printers, where the sensors get covered in toner dust and therefore can't report status so the printer thinks it's empty.

We clean the small sensor chip (bottom right, looks like a small circuit board) and any other bits which look dirty and the printer tends to respond after a restart. Hope it helps!

I have a Magicolor 2430. It is showing a media Jam at the transfer roller. Their does not seem to be any media anywhere near the transfer roller ,unless i'm mistaken about it's location. I suspect a jammed sensor somewhere but cannot seem to locate where that might be. The help desk says there is a sensor 3 inches below the transfer roller I cannot see anything that looks like a flag sensor at that location. Any help would be appreciated.

I have a magicolor 2400w and am told that a 17h error can be caused by a full waste toner container. where is the container located on rhis printer.

There is a sensor half way up the back of the paper path. If you remove the OPC it should be sticking out between the two feed rollers. It get stuck behind the cover.

Re: Konica Questions answered here by peek2 (9/9/07 9:31 PM) reply+1 + / -
Hello,

I'm new here, but have already been impressed by the level of expertise.

I have a Konica Minolta 2430DL. There seems to be a little too much fine "grey dust" in my printer and it's been causing the odd intermittent problem over time. I've cleaned the printer thoroughly, but the dust keeps reappearing.

I'm assuming this is "grey dust" is Waste Toner. In the 2430DL, as best I can tell, waste toner is stored in the Drum Cartridge rather than in a separate bottle, and it seems to eminate from a chute in the Drum Cartridge. I'm about to try to empty the waste toner, but thought there may be an expert who could give me some tips please? For example, either I could carefully dis-assemble the drum cartridge, or perhaps it's better to simply drill a small hole in it [where?] and slowly empty it through the hole.

I'm aware of the light-sensitive nature of the drum itself, the toxic nature of the toner, and the possibility that I may destroy the drum cartridge if I mess up.

Can someone step me through it please, or offer some advice?

((Background: The intermittent problem I referred to above was the printer reporting that the [say] Black cartridge was not installed, when indeed it was. I would clean the small gold pads with an eraser as recommended, but the problem would resurface all too soon. I likewise attempted to clean the mating switch contact in the printer, but noticed that one of the contacts was mis-aligned. To cut a long story short, I successfully removed the switch, disassembled it, cleaned out the dirt [much loose toner] that was floating around inside the switch, realigned the fragile little contacts and reassembled it. Not a job for the faint-hearted as it's hard to get to, and the switch is not exactly robust. Happily, this has fixed the "cartridge not installed" problem, but as the printer has just had reco cartridges fitted I'm looking ahead.
It seems there is a "waste toner sensor" which only lets the printer print out a few more pages when the sensor reports "waste toner full". I'd hate to think the waste toner filled up and shut down the printer, forcing me to buy a new Drum Cartridge (presently it reports 40% life remaining for the Drum Cartridge, so it'd be a shame for simply a "waste toner full" error to end it's life. The printer is about 3 years old and on its second set of cartridges after initial toner refills were used on the first set. It's printed about 6000 pages total)).

cheers

Konica Minolta 2430/2430 How to empt Waste Toner by Tex (9/16/07 10:57 PM) reply + / -
On the right hand side of the drum (the part that has the large green handle) that easily slides out. There is a small slider (black) that is held in place by a spring. This is covering the waste hole.

No need to drill holes, just empty the waste into a bag and dispose. Note the waste is toxic (not good for the lungs), so be very very careful with dust, eg wear a mask...

New Question 2300DL Waste bottle by Noam (9/20/07 10:59 AM) reply + / -
I have a 2300DL, and after about 2300 pages, it said that the waste bottle is full. As I live abroad, I cannot get a new bottle. I emptied out the bottle, but the printer still thinks its full. Any way to work around this issue?

Re: Konica Questions answered here by moe (9/20/07 2:41 PM) reply + / -
I don't know how that waste bottle works, but on other models I've worked on there was either a fuse that blew when installed that reset a counter, or there was an optical sensor that read a light beam through it and when the toner blocked the light, it would give the message.

Re: New Question 2300DL Waste bottle by seriously (edited 9/21/07 2:52 AM) reply + / -
it works off opto sensor. empty it, rinse it with warm water, and then dry it properly before inserting it back into the machine. it should be fine.

Re: Re: New Question 2300DL Waste bottle by Anonymous (9/23/07 10:30 AM) reply + / -
Well, I tried cleaning the bottle with warm water, and cleaned the inside. It still says its full. I tried to put tape on the little switch, without the bottle in, and it still says the bottle is full. Does this indicate a problem with the optica sensor? Can it be replaces. Or do I just need to get a new bottle?

Thanks.

Hello all,

I have a minolta 2430 DL laser printer. I recently purchased one of those refill kits for this particular printer. The black toner was empty so I refilled the cartridge without a hitch. The printer was doing great for a few weeks when one day it started to make this grinding gear noise and the printer stopped and gave me an error 17H. I tried removing and reinstalling the cartridges manually but the problem still persists. Also, when I print the configure page, it makes those grinding noises and prints out a page that has text printed very lightly on the top of the page but nothing on the last 3/4's of the page. When I try to print a Test page the printer the grinding noise gets very loud and the page comes out about a 1/4 of the way the the printer shuts down and gives me an error 17H. The printer has only printed 1430 pages since I got it a little over a year ago. Its not heavely used. Any ideas whats wrong?

Thanks

Hello again,

I went ahead and purchased a new Black cartridge from Minolta to replace the one I recently filled and the printer is working normally again. I don't know if the cartridge was simply going bad and was just a fluke or that because I refilled the cartridge with 3rd party toner (1st time and was a simple matter of removing a plastic plug), had something to do with its demise. I guess I'll find out when one of the color cartridges get low and try the toner refill kit again.

Thanks all for your help...=)

bbeck500,

I have had 7 2300DL's and I have seen the problem you mention. The toner packs down when refilling and seems to destroy the seals in the toner cartridge. I had the grinding on one of my earlier 2300's and had to replace cartridge. I find that if I made sure to shake up toner in bottle before refilling and only refill about 1/2-3/4 full with toner cartridge at about 45 degree angle, Not standing on end. Then after fill, hold cartridge level and gentle shake left to right, I never had this problem again. I find you can refill cartridges about 2 or 3 times before seals are dumping toner all over inside of printers.

PS if anyone knows how to rebuild these cartridges with new seals, I would be interested.

Sincerely, Magna

PS I am a computer Tech, Not trained in Printer repair, but have done my share of work on printers.

It kind of looks like multicolored barcode from top to bottom of page with all the lines extending from left edge in about 1/2 - 3/4". It is also present on Black only printout, but obviously just black barcode.

One of the printers has had this problem come and go and is currently printing great. I did not change anything. not even toner.

The other printer has been printing these marks for many weeks. But has occasionally on power off and power on stopped for a short time.

Since the problem has gone away at times, then I assume it is not drum or toner related. And since it has happened to both machines then I thought this may be a common problem that someone might have experienced. PS machines are about a year apart in age and the one continuously showing this problem has much less usage so I do not think it is related to age or number of copies. The lines I describe as looking like barcode are all parallel to each other and perpendicular to the paper path. The lines are not all the same length and do not seem to have a pattern to them and they sometimes wrap around or are affected by image on paper.

Does anyone know what this problem is and how to fix it?

Thanks in Advance for any help. PS I have service manual, but do not see anything in troubleshooting section pertaining to this problem.

Sincerely, Magna

Okay, I'm stumped -- I can't find the part nothos speaks of.

I feel a bit stupid, but could someone give a really detailed description of how to find and best way to clean this sensor?

Re: Konica Minolta 2430/2430 How to empt Waste Ton by Anonymous (11/27/07 8:43 PM) reply + / -
I have emptied the waste toner as described by Tex (there was heaps in there … thanks Tex !!!), but the fine grey dust I mentioned in my earlier post (on 9/9/07) just keeps on coming. I keep wiping it away, but a couple of times every day the printer stops working and reports that the [say] Black cartridge is not installed. I wipe it away, clean the gold contacts on the cartridges, and it works again until the next time it stops. I can’t work out where this grey dust is coming from (it seems to be waste toner, and is more concentrated toward the right-hand side of the printer internals). Can someone offer a few areas for me to investigate please?

Re: HELP!!! by Anonymous (12/1/07 2:03 PM) reply+1 + / -
The smudge down one edge could be caused by the lens glass being dirty with waste toner. Lift out the transfer belt unit - look down in the space and on the forward edge you will see a horizontal strip of glass in a plastic houseing. Clean this with soft cloth or tissue.

If that fails, look at the rubber roller on the toners - one or more may have surface damage if found, throw it away and fit new cartridge.

First answer is the most common.

Re: Re: Konica Questions answered here by Anonymous (12/1/07 2:52 PM) reply + / -
The 2400w toner cartridges have a small counting chip that looks like a small printed circuit board on the top right hand side. This has to be replaced when refilling.
The chip counts the number of pages and stops working when 1500 or 4500 pages have been through the machine. This does not mean the cartridge is empty so care must be taken that you do not overfill. The source of your refill toner should have supplied a new chip - it would probably be in a small bubble plastic bag. It is held by one very small screw.

I have read through all these posts again and again until I am nearly brain dead. Lots of folks seem to have the problem with the media jam transfer roller error but I cannot find anywhere that anyone answered if there is a fix. I now have TWO of these beasts and about $800 of consumables sitting in a junk heap because they are unuseable. The Konica service rep in Anchorage, Alaska is rude and unhelpful, at best! Please, can anyone point me to a solution. I have taken so many things off and put them back on, banged, clanged, snapped, crackled and popped everything I can see on both of them and still the error won't go away. Help Me, please!!!

Konica Minolta 2430 - Media Jam Transfer Roller by Tex99 (edited 12/6/07 10:39 PM) reply + / -
Hi
I am an owner of a Konica Minolta 2430 DL printer and have had my share of the issues listed above...

In particular, I have experienced the Media Jam Transfer Roller issue - a couple of things...

1. The Konica Minolta 2430 printer comes with a 2-year warranty. I rang Konica Minolta and they sent a technician to fix for free (the phone number is 1800 456 999), so check when you purchased your machine - I thought it only came with 12 months).

2. I spoke/watched to the technician who fixed the printer... if you open the printer up and removed the green drum, at the back in the middle are two small plastic flags that drop through holes where the paper runs. These flags can get pushed behind and so it reports a media jam, even without the paper. The top one is very high (easy to miss), but the lower one was my problem, with it sticking behind the hole. You can use a paper clip to pull out, but probably not a permanent solution. For me, the technician had to remove the back of the printer, circuit board, etc, etc, to realign the flag in the middle of the hole, so as to stop it getting jammed.

3. Konica Minolta has just changed service companies and have moved from Getronics to Laserfast. Laserfast seem good at what they do and they have a fair charging scheme, it is A$80+gst per visit plus any parts required... so to fix the jam it should be just this one fee, no per hour or call out charges. www.laserfast.com.au

Konica Minolta 2430 Drum Fuse Reset by Tex99 (edited 12/6/07 10:38 PM) reply + / -
Hi
With regards resetting the drum fuse on the Konica Minolta 2430 (and I guess similar Konica Minolta printers), all you need to do is replace the fuse that is located on the bottom of the drum.

This is will then stop the "Drum End of Life Message".

The fuse required is 80mA, which might be hard to get, however I have just tried a 100mA fuse from Jaycar (22 cents each) and it worked fine.

Turn off the printer power, remove drum, replace fuse, replace drum, turn on the power... end of life message has now disappeared.

If you have been using the drum for a while and the waste is getting full, empty out the grey waste toner before replacing (see instructions earlier on how to do this).

Cheers

Re: Konica Questions answered here by Teddyboy (12/6/07 11:18 PM) reply + / -
Hi Tex99,
Thanks for that - only a week ago I found the phone number of one of the Service Engineers who fixed a faulty printer under guarantee a year or so ago. Rang him and he said the 2300w drum has a fuse and it 'cannot' be replaced, buy a new drum.

Knowing there was a fuse I had a closer look and found it beneath two flat strips of metal that were held in place with sprung loaded claws. It looked almost impossible to get them out without damage so I just shorted across the plates with a single core wire stiff enough to secure it. Plugged in and bingo, it worked.

I now think that pressing some aluminium foil in the gap between the metal plates would have also done the job. Wire or foil should be removed after resetting 'just in case'.

Refilling the toner cartridges is simle on this model.

Reset your KM 2400W drum. by Jabirdinski (12/8/07 3:21 PM) reply + / -
( I did this becasue I get the error, Replace OPC drum )If you want to reset your OPC drum, first turn off your power. Open up the door and remove the drum assembly. Find the small fuse in the lower right corner. Take it out and replace it with a Radio Shack Fuse # 270-1046 it is a Fast acting fuse 0.316 amps GMA style 20mm. Put fuse into slot, ( careful not to break it ) Replace drum, close door, turn power on. Then bring up the printer status page,(not the windows printer status, but the status page that shows up from KM) do a power on test before printing. Then print a page config, you should see a drum life of 45000 and 100% cheers and happy holidays... Jabird.

Please help its driving me nuts

Re: Konica pale line on colour prints by Teddyboy49 (12/29/07 6:18 AM) reply + / -
Hi, this could be caused by a speck of dirt on the glass cover of the laser light or slight damage or dirt on the transfer drum (clean it with a SOFT cloth)

Have you tried printing solid black strips across the width of the page or a complete black page? The faulty should still show up if either of the above are the cause.

Magicolor 2550 Thick Paper Stock Feed Issue by ApexNC (1/11/08 8:02 AM) reply + / -
We are having trouble getting laser photo paper at the upper end of the thickness specification to feed into a 2550. The printer tries to pick the sheet, but it never gets transferred into the rollers. A jam is declared though the stock remains loose in the tray.

Normal stock and even presentation type stock feed fine and consistently.

We've tried many things, different amount of paper in the tray, changing the software settings for thick paper but we can't seem to get the paper to feed.

Any suggestions are appreciated!

Hi Rob,

We had huge problems with any kind of card in our magicolor 24xx and 25xx printers - exactly the same as you're describing. I honestly think it's yet another irritating quirk of the magicolours!

If you're only doing a few, then you can apply a gentle pressure towards the printer on the card which tends to pick it up OK, we ended up swapping the printer out as our staff often have to print a few hundred at a time! Note the above generally only works for a few sheets then it jams again.

We have a 6 month old 2530DL that has a fatal error 14H. We contacted Konica Minolta and they informed us that we needed to take it to a Konica Minolta service provider and furnished us a list of such providers. We contacted the nearest such, some 142 miles away, but they would not affirm that they could do warranty repair. They, in turn, referred us to a local company. The local company said they would not do a Konica Minolta warranty repair and referred us to a local Konica Minolta Dealer. The Konica Minolta Dealer ( Automated Copy Systems in Abilene Texas )told us that they would not do warranty repair. I am of the opinion that either one learns to fix your own printer or must pay to have any repairs done. Repairs in our case appear to be a minimum of $78 labor plus parts.

Earlier posts some 9 months ago said that this error is an "easy fix" and didn't cost anything but pictures were needed. If anyone has the pictures we would like to get our printer going again.

TravisK:

If you open the printer up, you will see a hole to the right of the toner cartridges (it should be close to rectangular. If you use a key/screwdriver to press down the plastic button in that hole (it doesn't require a lot of force), then you should be able to rotate the toner cartridges manually.

Re: Re: Re: Re: 2300 DL Multi Color lines down edg by Magnapro (2/10/08 10:58 AM) reply + / -
I finally called and talked to tech support and they informed me that lines down the side were drum and lines down the center were transfer belt.

So I traded these parts between two printers and found that after printing several sheets that the problems did in fact switch printers.

After a few more trials and cleaning and switching parts I have come to the conclusion that both my printers streaks and lines were a result of the drums. Or more likely the wiper that cleans the drum.

I removed the drums which in one printer only has about 1500 copies on it and noticed in direct alignment with the lines on the paper I saw toner packed in a clump holding the wiper away from the drum.
This was only visible after removing drum from assembly. I cleaned the packed toner off the felts and wiper and reinstalled same drum and I have perfect prints on one printer and the other was much improved doing the same thing. the 2nd printer was not perfect, but that printer has over 30,000 copies on drum.

By the way the drums claim some 45,000 copies, but I do not believe this is true, I think it is actually drum revolutions and drum turns 4 times for each color print. plus additional revolutions for warm up, etc.

I think the main culprit in this scenario is refilling the toner cartridges too many times. The cartridges start leaking toner after a couple of refills and the wiper were not designed to handle the excessive amounts of toner.

this is all conjecture on my part as I am a computer tech, not printer tech. This is based on my experiences with my own units and not based on any training from manufacturer.

I plan to try some more cleaning and testing to see if I can eliminate the faint lines on 2nd printer but have not had the time. I will post further results in the future.

Re: Re: Konica Questions answered here by Anonymous (2/15/08 2:49 PM) reply + / -
Jammed cartridge in 2300 - it needs to be pushed further in - if it has revolved part way and then jammed you have a problem.

You could try using a strong screwdriver or something similar to use as a lever to force the cartridge fully home.

In case you do not know, you can rotate the cartridges manually by inserting a thin rod into the hole just above and left of the cartridge slot. Depress the spring loaded plunger down this hole and hold as you rotate.

2400w toner remaining - I suggest you may have deleted the status files that bring up the status screen when you switch on the printer. Reinstal the printer using the CD that came with it. This should then allow you to see this screen and check the % remaining.

A better way is to weigh the cartridges with electronic scales - full are around 650 grammes empty at 500 grammes.

I have a Konica Magicolor 2300W and the alignment is off when it prints. I am printing off of Adobe InDesign CS3 and when it prints it is not exactly in the center, it is more towards the top of the page. I need it to print exactly center because I am printing on both sides and then cutting the paper to the edges of the document I am printing, but when I cut it it is fine on one side and on the other the words get cut off. Is there any way to realign the printer or fix this? Thanks.

Hi All,
I am stuck on these 2 problems (2 different printers, same model)

(1) The paper pressure roller mounted in the back door broke. Managed to get a new door from a dropped and U/S machine and carefully replaced this. It now reports no paper in the tray yet was working fine until the breakage of that roller (paper jammed and hand jerked against roller as papert was pulled clear). All cables connected to correct sockets (foolproof as they only fit the corresponding one).

(2) on the other model, the paper does not fully eject from the top (heated) roller and is blank (there might be a second fault causing pages to be blank but cannot diagnose until paper feed is sorted. (about 3 fifths of page ejects and then stops with about 1 fifth trapped in the roller).
Any Ideas?

Re: Konica Questions answered here by Teddyboy (3/8/08 9:37 AM) reply + / -
There can be many reasons why blue does not print that I cannot answer at this stage.
Go to the Konica minolta site and read the FAQ'a for your printer - it explains about one particularnoise and what causes it, and the cure.

Before coming back to me about other faULTS READ YOUR INSTRUCTION MANUAL FIRST. Read all the FAQ'a on Konica's site and read all the previous postings on here for your model - in many cases, you will find the answer.

Finally, does the printer print at all? is it ok in Mono? if so, print out a config page to see j=how many pages have been printed. What does the status screen tell you - if you don't have a status screen or don't know what one is - reinstall the printer from the original CD's - that should give you the status screen and enable you to konw ehat the machine is telling you is wrong.

Teddyboy

Re: Re: Konica Questions answered here by Anonymous (3/16/08 4:00 PM) reply + / -
Ok,
If you say you have done all that then you will have read the message on the FAQ'a about the noise and how to cure it (assuming it is the same noise they knwo about - caused by the scraper bar not springing back into place).

You will also have reinstalled the driver so what does the Status page tell you? does it say the Cyan cartridge is faulty or empty?

Have you tried printing a simple bar of each colour across the page (say 15mm by the width of the page)

Even some large text with 4 lines, each of a different colour - what is the result?

Are your cartridges original Koninca and if so, have they been refilled? I refill mine and really have no problem with them as long as they do not leak.

Konica 2430DL - Transfer Belt has bumps in it. It's about 2 years old and while printing, it developed these bumps on the transfer belt. So prints have missing printed areas. How do you replace the belt, what happened that caused it ?
It doesn't seem to be in the instruction manual.

Re: Konica Question from Mbutkus by Anonymous (4/2/08 9:40 AM) reply + / -
I have no idea what caused the bumps, but it sounds like heat. Did you print something different, did it jam, or did it just happen?

There is no simple cheap way to replace other than buying a second hand unit/printer and taking a chance.

You could try Ebay.

To replace it, you remove the old one and throw it away amd put in the new one.

I am assuming the 2430DL is the same as the 2400W

The person at KM said they seem to think tabs fall off if the top is not put down right, getting into the belt area and causing the bumps. We just replaced the image cartridge a few weeks ago. So best bet to replace this.

My 2400 will not "rotate toner".

Re: Konica Questions answered here by Anonymous (4/8/08 1:54 PM) reply + / -
Lift up and look on the underside of the lid, on the right hand side, you will see the plastis has an extended finger that locates into a matching hole when lid is lowered.

With the lid open, press a small screwdrive into the hole and depress the spring - hold this down and try rotating the toner drum by hand, towards you and downwards.

If it moves then there is a fault in the rotating mechanism, electrical or mechanical. This could be anything and I cannot answer that. (If there are signs of loose toner generally around inside the printer, it might be worth cleaning (see previous posts on how to do this) as it might be making poor contacts on the switches.

What does your Status monitor say?

If you have not git the status monitor on screen READ YOUR INSTRUCTIONS ON YOUR CD
REINSTALL THE PRINTER (Uninstall it first)
ans DON'T ask for help until you have carried out the simple basic things. We are not mind readers, we do not have ESP so YOU must diagnose and identify what the prionter is telling you before we can help.

If the drum does not rotate then I suspect one of the toner cartridges may be jammed and the orinter may have to be stripped to fix it. (I did fix one by using a long thin screwdriver and levering the jammed toner cartridge back into the housing - but I was luck and did not damage anything)

Re: Konica Questions answered here by aaronwalkerx (4/8/08 5:41 PM) reply + / -
Stutus shows that Blank INK is empty. I could change it but it does still work and i have to rotate the drum Manually to get to it.

My 2 symptoms are that it is 1) stopping with paper half way out the top and 2) the "rotate toner" does not work. However, when it does print, it prints black fine.

thanks!

Foul grinding noise by jeffreyandrew (4/14/08 7:48 PM) reply+1 + / -
I've had my 2400w for about 2 years, been very happy with it.

A few days ago, in the middle of a print job, it started making this foul grinding noise. The printing halted when this noise started. I shut if off, restarted the printer and tried again - same thing. Along with the noise the error light started flashing quickly. I couldn't see what the error was exactly, as I was running it in Linux, so I do not have the status monitor.

Now it will not even finish booting - it will go straight to the flashing error with no grinding, but neither does not finish its normal boot routine. I installed it on a windows machine to see if the status monitor would shed any light, but the status monitor gives me the 'printer off/printer not connected error'.

I've done a decent amount of electronic tinkering, but never printers. Any advice or starting points would be dearly appreciated. Thanks.

High Pitch then Jam by after68 (4/19/08 7:10 AM) reply + / -
There seems to be a gremlin in my printer. I have a konica magicolor 3300. It prints awesome quality and has been a work horse. For the last six months, at least twice a day, I go to print and it starts to make a high pitch whining noise well before the paper is picked up. It picks up the paper, lays down about six inches of toner down the page, then it jams. I should mention that when I say it lays down the toner, I mean it's transferring my print job to my page, and it's perfect for about six inches then jams. I pull the jam out and everything is fine for a few hours. You can tell when it is about to jam because of the high pitch whine, and I can not figure this out for the life of me. I have had this thing in pieces and cleaned and vacuumed every nook and cranny. Haven' t done anything with the cartridges in awhile, except change the black toner, and I have been through three brand new toner cartridges with the same result. So I'm positive it's not the toner. Any help would be appreciated.

Re: Foul grinding noise by moe (4/19/08 12:56 PM) reply + / -
Considering that not too long ago, I saw these at Fry's for $149 refurbished, it makes it disposable. Anything you are going to do to it will cost more than that, not including your time. Take out the consumables and toss it. You should be able to find a 2400W real cheap. If not at Fry's, then somewhere else. 2 years is about 1 year longer than its life expectancy, so your ahead in any case.

Konica Question - X Toner not installed by bhjd (5/9/08 9:05 PM) reply + / -
Hi, Friends.

I just replaced my black toner cartridge on a konica minolta magicolor 2530DL. Now I am getting (the infamous) “X toner not installed” error message for all of my toner cartridges.

I read somewhere that I should clean the three prong device that makes contact with the cartridges. However, upon inspecting it, one of the prongs is bent or broken. Is this three prong device the problem? If so, how can I order a new one?

Thank you for your time!

I have two Minolta/QMS Magicolor 2300DL printers that were manufactured February and March of 2003. One has printed 7,000 pages and the other has printed 17,000 pages.

They both have a problem where they successfully print a job and then quit with a flashing yellow error light saying to Put Media Tray 1 Plain Paper Letter.

The problem happens about 80% of the time and the solution has been to remove the stack of paper from Tray 1 and re-insert it again. The problem has gone on forever because it has been easy to deal with.

Once in a while it clunks and sounds bad printing the first page and spits out a wrinkled page or a page with folds in it.

I'd like to fix both of these but it's not clear to me that there's a solution for this exact problem.

Re: Konica Questions answered here by evopress (5/28/08 7:10 AM) reply + / -
We have a KM Magicolor 3300 that has printed less than 7,000 pages. Print statistics show 74% remaining life on Transfer unit, 78% on Imaging Unit; 93% on fuser and feed roller--all original--so it does not get hard use; just regular weekly use of a handful of color pages. A week ago, a relatively new magenta toner cartridge "blew up" in the printer printing out lots of magenta all over the pages we were printing. There was also magenta everywhere inside the printer. We tried vacuuming the printer but each time we tried to print again, the same thing happened. We replaced the toner with another new cartridge (KM, not generic and never refill).

After printing about 50 blank sheets to clean out the magenta, it started printing pages fine EXCEPT now we cannot get anything to print the color red. We have printed (primarily from Creative Suite 3) about 25 pages. Magenta toner shows at 98% in statistics after those prints. ALL reds come out totally orange, not red.

I did a test page where I made six circles on a page, each with a different primary color: c, m, y, r, g, b. Every circle looks fine except red which is definitely orange.

Ideas? Help, please. We really need red for the job we are working on now.

Our 3300 has done this from the day we took it out of the box. We are huge fans of this printer and this is the only complaint we have ever had about it until now. If we don't use it for a couple of days, it squeals and jams the first page every time we start printing from it again, and usually the first couple of pages. We just got used to having to remove the first page jam every time. I wish I could tell you what it is, but I can tell you it is not the toner. Hope someone has an answer to solving this.

Re: Konica Questions answered here by matchmaker (6/19/08 11:46 AM) reply + / -
Our 2300W has started producing a black mark half way down the left hand side of prints. The unusual thing is that this only happens on the first copy of a print run, ie, if you print 100 copies, only copy 1 has the mark, the other 99 are OK, if you print 10 separate items one after the other, each has the mark.

Drum and cartridges have been changed and the printer has been cleaned.

Occasionally instead of the black mark we get a multicoloured vertical streak down the left hand side of the first copy.

Please help if you can, I depend on my printer for everyday usage for many types of printing.

Re: Re: Re: Konica Questions answered here by Anonymous (7/7/08 5:32 PM) reply + / -
The smudge is commonly caused by teeth skipping. The cartridge rotor assembly is the part that holds all the toner and rotates for whatever color is needed. It rides on two cogs, one on each side of the printer. The rotor assembly has been known to "jump teeth" causing the rotor assembly to become off balanced, thus causing streaks or smudges down one side. To realign the rotory assembly you will need to find a manual somewhere to tell you how to do it. I can't tell you off the top of my head how to do, I just fly by the seat of my pants... Good Luck

I was experiencing bent / folded pages when my printer would print after being idle for more than 30 min. Subsequent prints would be normal. Eventually, every page was folded about a half an inch, three inches from the top. If this is happening to you, you know what I'm talking about.

I tried printing to card stock which jammed the printer and gave me a 17h fatal error. I reset the printer and now it prints fine. Maybe something was stuck and the card stock cleared it out? Anyway, it worked.

If you are experiencing similar issues, I hope you find this comment helpful.

Re: Konica Questions answered here by MWWard (7/9/08 4:08 PM) reply + / -
This all started when I noticed streaks on my paper. When the toner cartridges rotate a small amount of black toner was falling onto the paper in the tray.

I removed the cartridges and vacuumed a large amount of toner from the bottom. I wasn't getting all of it and loosened two screws just above the paper tray. One of them fell into the slot for width adjustment. When I removed the paper feeder to get the screws two springs came out.

Well, I cleaned all of the toner up the best I could. Figured out how to put the springs back in. Still not sure if I have the tray installed properly (I have it under the two cams)and replaced all of the toner cartridges. When I go to start, the cartridges rotate and it begins to sound like it is going to feed paper and then stops with an error code 12H. Don't know what to do next!

The drum transfers the image onto the page, so if it goes you need a new one. The drum having to be replaced doesnt mean you need cartridges as they have different lives.

Hi all,

I have tried to find an answer to my problem in this thread and can not see one, so please forgive me if i have over looked it.

I have a problem that is baffleing me. I have two konica minolta printers the 2430 and the 2530. In one of them i have a set of standard toners and in the other i have the hi capacity ones(both genuine)

Currently the hi cap ones are in the 2430 and work just fine and are almost full as they are fairly new, however if i take them out and put them in the 2530, the printer says enf of life !

So i tried putting them back into the 2430 and they worked again.

The weird thing is that teh standard toners work in both of the printers!! but the hicap only in the 2430.

Oh yes and the other strange thing is, if the standard toners are in the 2430 and i print a config page, it shows then as being hi cap ie, 4500 pages !!

I have done the obvious things like clean the 3 prong thing and the metal contacts on the toners. Doe snot make any differance.

Is there any reason why the stnadard toners and not the HI Cap toners would work ina 253o printer.

Thaks very much

Re: Konica Questions answered here by moe (7/29/08 11:13 PM) reply + / -
Mfgs. do this all the time. If they sell a copier/printer for cheaper than a like model, they cripple it to only be able to use a low yield toner. This is so they can recoup the money on toner that they lose selling the machine cheaper. HP does the same thing on some of their laser printer models. Not familiar with Konica/Minolta, but I suspect that is the correct answer.

Re: Konica Questions answered here by angela1969 (7/30/08 7:29 AM) reply + / -
The standard or high yield cartridges should work in either of the Magicolor printers. they Magicolor 2400/2500 series printers all use the same cartridge - high or low yield. the only diffrence is the amount of toner in each.

Its a weird one - maybe you need to get the memory to clear. Are your low yield ones empty? the chips on the cartridges control whether the printer sees an empty or full catridge.

see: http://www.zinetic.co.uk

Thanks for replying.

I agree, they should woork in either, it is very weird. No the low yield ones are about half full.

I'm not sure what you mean by clear the memory, do you mean the normal printer memory or is there a memory related to the toners?

Thanks again

output will be fuzzy or very light. Make certain both green levers are down and you can see
the envelop icons. pldtech

I have the same issue regarding the "Imaging Unit Missing" error msg. I am unable to find or recognize the contact sensor. And, I couldn't identify an issue with the gears not being meshed that engineer1000 posted was the fix for him. Is there an exploded diagram that would show the sensor? I couldn't find one on the Konica Minolta site. Any help would be appreciated.

Sept 8-08
Issue was the gears on plastic sprockets not meshing properly. To access the gear assembly the side cover on the left hand side when facing the control panel) of the printer must be removed. This involved removing a few screws and releasing a couple of plastc tabs.

Thanks.

Hi, I just bought some toner and some reset chips for the 2400.
After refilling the toner and replacing the chips the printer still shows "empty toner".
Could this be caused by the fact that i refilled the 1500 pages starter toners and the new chips are for 4500 pages?
Is there anything to do than to switch the printer on and off after changing the chip?
Thanks in advance,

I am an electronics engineer, technician, with over 40 years experience, so I would really be very happy to know if there is a secret reset method to clearing this code and putting our machine back on line. I have cleaned cartridge plates and the printer. Same results.
Printout in just black and white shows good quality orginal images and then there is a faded repeat in the background. Any idea as to the problem.

Re: Konica 2400W by Anonymous (10/8/08 8:35 AM) reply + / -
You will need to reset the sensors on the cartridges so that it thinks that you have a new cartridge. Search on the net and you can find instructions on how to do it.

Your b/w sounds like it might be running low. Try taking the cartridge out and do the shake and roll to move the toner around.

Konica Minolta 2530DL Fault Code 12H by NateOceanside (10/14/08 11:35 PM) reply + / -
I picked up a used 2530DL for $5 at Goodwill, mainly for the toner cartridges. Pretty dirty inside, LOTS of toner caked up in there. From other experience I've seen printers like that which had been transported, with cartridges installed, on a bumpy road a great distance. With all that stray toner around, you can basically ruin a printer. (If you're gonna shake up a laser printer, take the toner cartridges out and put them in a sealed plastic bag. Some cartridges are light sensitive, so put them in a light tight bag.)

Anyway, just for grins I decided to clean this unit up. Remove the toner cartridges! Outdoors, using an air compressor, I gave the thing a good blowing out. On power up the unit gave Fault Code 12H. From reading around that is a Laser Fault.

My suspicion was that the laser is likely good (they are pretty reliable). I could hear the polygon spin up, and it sounded good. (In this unit the polygon scanner is a square about 1-inch each face.) My guess was, that with all the toner in the unit, that some had made it's way into the scanner. And it was likely affecting the "beam detect" mechanism.

What is beam detect you may ask? When the laser strikes the spinning polygon the beam will scan across the OPC drum (Organic Photo Conductor). However, the precise position will vary from face to face on each scan (depending on the face of the polygon). To compensate for this the beam is synchronized using a photo sensor. In this case, just before the beam scans across the OPC drum, it first strikes a small pick-off mirror inside the laser scanner. (The pick off is toward the left side of the printer.) It then reflects off and strikes a photo diode on a small circuit board mounted on the right side of the laser scanner. If this stuff is dirty with toner you don't get a "beam detect". The electronics flag that as a laser fault.

OK. Disassembly is a bit much.
First, UNPLUG THE THING!
There are hazardous voltages inside.
There is also a high powered laser.
Be safe!

Take out the Toner Cartridges. Looking down into the printer you will see the laser scanner window facing straing up. The glass window is about 4 inches long and 1/4-inch wide. Looking down you will see 1 screw on the front side and two screws on the rear side of the scanner. There is a shell to the left that covers a mechanical interlock to the laser scanner. This is a shutter that closes off the laser beam if the top door is open (so you don't get blinded).

On the right side of the laser scanner is a similar cover that holds the 3-terminal contacts that sense the toner cartridges as they rotate around. Both these shells snap into place. To remove them you press in some small tabs that face the front of the printer, and then tip the shells up. Notice how the mechanical interlock connects up the the shutter inside the laser scanner.

Don't disconnect the cables to the scanner. That's a nightmare. Instead just unscrew the unit and let it dangle out the front of the printer. There is a top shell cover. Tricky to describe, but you can figure out how to remove it. Then there is a metal cover. Remove one screw, and remove that cover.

Looking into the unit you will see the square polygon scanner motor in the center. At the left is the pick off mirror. The lenses and mirror are in the center. The laser is on the right. And the photo diode beam detector is on a small circuit board mounted on the outside of the scanner near the laser assembly.

If your unit looks like mine, you will see a fair amount of toner dust inside. Give it a good blowing with compressed air or Aero Duster. Remove the photo diode board, blast it with air too. Make sure the diode is clean. Perhaps use Q-tip and rubbing alcohol. I just used my shirt. I recommend just using air to blow off the lenses, mirror, and polygon faces. You'll likely scratch them if you use a Q-tip, etc. Also be sure the pick off mirror is clean.

Then reassemble the whole mess. If you're lucky the 12H error code will have disappeared. If not, then perhaps your really DID have an actual hardware fault. Since the laser scanner costs over $200, it's really not worth repairing the printer.

Oh well. At least you had fun taking things apart. You did have fun, didn't you? Hopefully you learned a few things.

Carls: Error 17H is a rack rotation failure:
Thank you for noting a possible cause - that the toner cartridge(s) may not be sitting correctly, and thus one may need to pay slose attention when installing a replacement toner cartridge. Mine are visibly not in alignment with each other... (not all flat on the same plane - the only-just-visible black cartridge is slightly deeper in than the cyan cartridge, which is deeper in than the magenta, which may be the sticking one, as its visible tip looks pretty close to the front edge.

I have a Konica-Minolta Magicolor 2350, and have been unable to print due to the yellow toner cartridge being empty. When I attempt to replace it, the message displayed is "CANNOT ROTATE CARTRIDGE". The menu display cannot get past this dilemma. Unless the cartridges are rotated "into the removal position", one is simply UNABLE to remove any cartridge except the one that is in "removal position", and thus not needing to be rotated.

However, I have seen in the manual, in the section about how to disassemble absolutely everything, that the toner cartridges can be rotated manually. Here it says "Press in the toner carousel latch" but has no further information for where to find this latch; and there is no diagram with a label saying "caousel latch". The manual says, having pressed in the latch, you can then carefully turn the carousel (carefully, to prevent injury to your fingers) until the the next cartridge is in position.

I have removed the cyan cartridge which is "in the removal position" and seen that where it was, on the right hand wall, there is a thing I could call a latch, which seems to have a spring at its far end. The other (near) end you can press DOWN (I would not have called this action "IN"). However, I cannot rotate the carousel, even while pressing hard enough down on the latch to keep it down.

Can anyone tell me where to find the "toner carousel latch", on the Magicolor 2350?

Re: Re: Konica Questions answered here by Anonymous (10/23/08 3:51 PM) reply + / -
My Magicolor 2350 requires a sheet of paper in the try at start-up, to waste ink printing out a page after it has finished "starting system". If you are in great luck, maybe yours is just waiting for a sheet of paper?

Re: Re: Konica Questions answered here by Anonymous (10/23/08 3:55 PM) reply + / -
How do you "rotate the drum manually" to get to it? Do you mean the OPC drum? Or do you mean the toner cartridge? Either way, I would love to learn how to rotate my toner cartridges manually, as my Magicolor 2350 says CANNOT ROTATE CARTRIDGE, so has remained unused for a while now...

Re: Re: Re: Konica Questions answered here by moe (10/23/08 3:58 PM) reply + / -
I have no idea where the latch is, but having no manual never stopped me. Obviously, the latch is actuated when the door is closed, to allow the carousel to rotate. All you need to do is look on the door for some kind of protrusion that goes into a slot. That is where you'll find the latch. For instance, on the HP4500 model, there is a protrusion on the right side of the door and one on the left. The left side one actuates the door switch and the right side one releases the carousel.

Can't detect paper? by Rolf (11/6/08 10:11 PM) reply + / -
Lately, even with full paper stack, it sometimes says that it needs more paper to print. So far the only solution is to just yank paper out, open one of doors, close, then put in paper after slight delay. It somehow resets the sensor.

Why does it do that? :(

The model is 2300DL.

Oh yeah where can I find Vista 64 bit drivers?

Re: Konica Questions answered here by juniorsenior (11/19/08 7:07 PM) reply + / -
Hello!

I have a Magicolor 2300DL that has been standing unused for some time and it won't print correctly.

The printer feeds paper from the tray, it goes through the printer, comes out at the top - but just before the sheet

of paper is released (ejected) into the collection bay at the top, it stops. The paper seems almost fully printed, but

why does it stop there? And the printed image/text looks a bit shifted, the first 2 inches of the paper are plain and

at the bottom those 2 inches are missing.

When the paper stops ejecting, the printer reports "paper jam transfer rollers". However, it is very easy to pull the

last bit out of the printer, so it isn't really stuck. After closing the door/right side of the printer to reset the

jam I'm getting either a "paper size mismatch" or "put media:tray 1 A4" error. Maybe not important, but maybe good to

know.

Aditionally, I'm having problems printing color on it. In color modes (not monochrome, that seems to work somewhat)

only some faint shades of cyan appear, a hint of magenta and no yellow.

Regards,
Andrew (Germany)

Ignore my earlier query I must have typed in the wrong code. It is as per above.

To enter this service mode activate the following sequence (in order);

1. Utility
2. Stop
3. 0
4. 0
5. Stop
6. 0
7. 1

Once in this mode search through listings for “Clear Function” press YES and located DRAM Clear, press YES again and then re-start the machine.

Please note that after the restart RX reports will need to be re-enabled to ensure fax receipts are printed following fax transmission. Also fax time and date may also required to be confirmed to ensure it remains correct.

Hi itsofficial,
I don't know the PagePro 9100 specifically, so I'm having an intelligent guess here. It's likely the printer has the ability to get an IP Address from the server on your network, and it's possible you have DHCP set to "ON" in your printer, which forces the printer to go to the server on your network to get an IP Address assigned to it (rather than using the IP Address you have set up in the printer). If that's the case, simply setting DHCP to "OFF" in the printer and entering "192.168.000.021" as your desired IP Address in the printer should solve your problem? Good luck.
cheers, peekaypeekay

Re: Re: PagePro 9100 by Anonymous (12/19/08 4:48 AM) reply + / -
Actually that is the first thing I checked and DHCP is set to disabled in the printer. When I set the IP address to 192.168.0.21 and do a soft reset the printer works fine - until the power is turned off. Then when the printer is turned back on it reverts back to 192.168.0.51 every time. I'm stumped. We use a Novell network and about the only thing I haven't tried yet is deleting the printer in NDPS and creating a new one. It acts like there is already a device with that IP address so it changes it. And the old printer I removed did have that same IP address.

Some routers usually can reserve an IP address for certain mac #. Check your router or dhcp server that it is not the case...

Hello:

I have a DI2010F, where I entered into tech mode thinking this copier has a HDD-6 hard drive. unfortunately it does not and now copier tries to boot from hard drive. The initial mode screen appears on boot but system continues to try to reboot. The panel buttons will not work.

Is there a reset code or jumper, that will allow me to reset to factory oem or a way I can get back into tech mode to change system to no hard drive?

Thank you so much for any assistance that you can provide! I have my tech code and Minolta service pdf manual, my father was a technician and I have some experience myself.

Hi, Ive got a Magicolor 2430dl and updated the firmware and now no sign of life, is there a workaround so that I can reload the FIRMWARE or is this the end of the road for the printer? Surely someone else has managed to find a way to get it to reboot!

I phoned Minolta and they told me the comms board has gone and an engineer would cost £250, obviously easier to get another printer, but I want to get this one working for less.

Any help would be greatfully receieved.

I get messages such as the printer is not "plug and play". The computer, however, displays "Found New Hardware". I have been trying to install this printer for the past 3 days without success. What am I doing wrong?

Also if I go into the WebTools Software I get "Service Code C4400"

Blinking.

I have removed the covers and cleaned it up, Blew it out a little, but the error is still there. What can I do I am not sure how to proceed.

Thanks

Re: Konica Questions answered here by Rolf (1/9/09 2:15 PM) reply + / -
Did the fan spin while its on? If so, is it slower than usual? Those may be cause for that error.
Best way is to replace or lubricate the fan (it's different for computer fans.. do research first!)

"Service call 17H"
http://www.fixya.com/support/t319238-service_call_17h
I never tried this so take advice with grain of salt...

"Vista 64 bit driver for 2300w"

This might work for you... I didn't try this driver.

Re: Konica Questions answered here by bobf4080 (1/9/09 2:21 PM) reply + / -
Well here is where I am unsure. The copier has a fan, it has a sort of filter. It appears to have a bit of dust and is some kind of consumable. I removed it so it would not come into play. The fan appears to be operating also.

My question is does the controller have a fan also, that you know of? With the controler attached there seems to be a sound that is familiar with the same issue I have when my computer gets dusty and the fan has too much dusk on it. I can not see or pin point the fan, I guess I need to take the controller apart.

If you have any knowledge or advise please let me know.

Thanks

Re: Konica Questions answered here by Rolf (1/9/09 4:41 PM) reply + / -
Unfortunately I'm not printer expert, I'm just experienced on computers in general.

There's repair manuals out there, which have a lot of detail into how your printer is designed, and you can "see" inside your printer to see if there's any other fans other than cover fan. If there is none, try rotating the fan while its off to see if there is any resistance. There should only be very small resistance to rotation. It should spin for a little while when you cause it to spin. If it stops almost immediately, there's little bit of a friction problem.

STEP 1
On your Magicolor 2430 series printer, make sure the panel display says “READYâ€. Then press the MENU/SELECT button.
STEP 2
By scrolling with the right arrow button, continue until you stop at selection “ENGINEâ€. Now press the MENU/SELECT button again.
STEP 3
Scroll again with the right arrow button until you get to “TONER EMPTYâ€. Press the MENU/SELECT button again.
STEP 4
Press the right arrow button until you get to “TONER IS EMPTY OR OUTâ€

STEP 5
Press MENU/SELECT button once more, and then press the UP arrow until you see “READYâ€.
That’s it!

or you go to my shop system at www.printer-reset.com

This is a follow up to my question on "Fan Motor error"

I was able to correct it. The Controller has two fans. The main one was binding up against this metal bracket, not sure why, I try to shim it and it kept doing it, So I flipped the fan around so it is drawing air away rather than blowing on it. I hope this wont hurt it I am going to keep an eye on it until I get a replacement fan.

It stopped the error anyway and the printer is working again. I will keep an eye on it to see what happens

Thanks

KM 2450: paper mismatch and inconsistent placement by silophophe (1/14/09 1:44 PM) reply + / -
Hi All,

I have a three year old Konica-Minolta magicolor 2450. Typically, the first page sent to the printer after a period of inactivity will have it's contents shifted downward, leaving a blank space at the top of the page. Often, the page does not fully exit the printer and I must extract the sheet and open/close the top to get the printer running again. As I print more pages, the downward shift becomes less noticeable. However, the vertical placement of the page is somewhat random: if I print the same page twice in a row there can be a vertical shift of several millimeters. There is never any real repeatability.

Lately I've noticed that the printer LCD panel indicates a "paper mismatch" after the page is printed. This may have been happening all along; I've just discovered that the "Input Tray/Auto Continue" option was set to "ON" and that "Input Tray/Tray 1 Mode" was set to "AUTO."

Letter sized paper is all I've ever used in Tray 1. Both the printer and the computer's printer driver settings (under Win/XP) are set to Letter. I'm not sure how the printer determines the paper size as it feeds into the printing mechanism, but it seems to be misreading the dimensions.

I've found a couple other posts on the web with people experiencing similar problems with the 2450, but have yet to see a solution or even an explanation. Does anyone out there have an idea?

I've lived with this problem a long time. I've only just discovered this site; I hope someone can help me out. Thank you all for your input!

Dan

Magicolor 2530DL Fatal Error Code 14H by Anonymous (1/19/09 8:08 PM) reply + / -
I purchased my printer one year ago, and have recently experienced problems with my printer. I continue to recieve the error message Code 14H. When I open the printer, I find that the paper is not circulating through, and continues to jam. When I remove the paper, the code doesn't erase. I finally have to turn the printer off and restart. The first few times, my printer recovered, but now, nothing is printing. Help.

Re: Re: Re: Konica Questions answered here by Anonymous (1/22/09 10:49 AM) reply + / -
I also ran into the problem of "cannot rotate cartridge". Don't know if you have tried to power down the printer via the power switch or unplugging the unit. Then power it back up and try again. I tried several times unsuccessfully to remove and reinstall the cyan toner to get it to rotate. Powering it down and restarting it did the trick. If this doesn't work for you, try getting on Minolta's web site for additional help.

Minolta 2300DL first print of the day problem by Brasto (1/23/09 5:54 AM) reply + / -
My 2300DL printer is very consistent to print the first page of a printjob about 1 cm lower than normal from the top of the page.

I am loading A4 size, and that's also part of my preferred settings.
The problem ONLY occurs when my PC has been powered down and back to up again. My printer allways remains powered to the net and enters save mode.

The second print command will allways result into a perfectly positioned print.(this is also true for the second print command of the same document which was initially incorrect)

I have been digging into drivers/settings etc for WIN XP SP3, connected to LPT1 but could not pinpoint any problem.

Recently I noted that doing a first print of the day from the Printer Control Panel Menu like the CONFIG page or DEMO page also causes the printer to offset print on A4 by about 1 cm.
Again repeating the command for another page prints perfect.

No error lights or messages do show-up

I am somewhat puzzled as where the problem originates from, my workaround is now to discard the first page of the day printout and just make another print out. (this is cutting trees and costing toner/drum/energy)

Any HELP?

PS.
The funny thing is that my other MINOLTA MC2300W exhibits more or less the same problem, except that the paper gets folded at its top, toner is not fully fused at the folded area. The paper allways reaches the output tray, but there is an error light which will automatically rest within 5 seconds..

Grinding noise by nikki512 (1/28/09 3:30 PM) reply + / -
I have a Minolta 2400W that someone moved, and nearly knocked off my desk. The paper lift was knocked loose, and the springs came out. I opened up the front of the printer, and tried to put everything back together, but when I turn it on there is this terrible grinding noise. Something must still be off, but I can't see what. I am a computer tech, and take stuff apart all the time, but never a laser printer. If anyone has diagrams or a picture of what it should look like, I'd really appreciate it.

I have Konica Minolta 2400w. I refilled the cartridges and now the amber error light flashes (normal speed flashing-1 per second) I put new chips on the cartirdges. Cleaned everything up real good. Checked fuse on drum. I am really frustrated. First, that it costs twice as much to replace cartridges as a printer costs, so I had to resort to filling them, then that after I invested $125 in toner, I dont have a printer. The printer probably has no more than 2500 copies run onit. Can you suggest anything else?

re stunbear - vertical white stripes on left side.

are you getting the defect when you print with all colours and black ?

If you are uits either the laser sensor or the drum.

Try cleaning the laser sensor inside the printer. Just wipe it with a dry clean cloth. it soulds like your may have toner on it.

these guys told me this and it worked for me:

I bought the Brother HL-4040CN, Staples said that was comparable to the 2300. I am very anal about pictures and the print quality didn't look as good as the 2300. In my opinion anyway. Now it was smaller, quieter and faster to start and complete the print job. But in the end I printed up some pictures that I had from the 2300 and it just wasn't the same. Every picture, the 2300 won hands down. Not to mention when I found a new one for 215.00 (including shipping - from CA to TX) I could not pass that up.

I bought my old one when it first came out. I think 2003-04 maybe and I have never (knock on wood) had a serious problem. Nothing that required taking it in. And I do go through some paper. I have 2 kids and from Jan to June I take about 5-6,000 photos. So you can imagine! I did have the problem you are talking about. It was with the yellow as well. When I took all the toner cartridges out there was yellow ALL inside the printer. I am going to have to brain storm to think of what I did to resolve that. I may have even written it down somewhere, give me a day or two to look for it. It was not difficult, I did it myself.

Hi there,
I have a Magicolor 2500W. I had a pretty major paper jam that I've resolved, but now when documents print, the toner is not fused to the page - I can smudge the toner with my fingers. Any ideas of what is going on and how I can fix it?

Re: Konica Questions answered here by moe (3/6/09 5:49 PM) reply + / -
Best guess would be a sheet of paper wrapped around the fuser heat roller. This would act as insulation and prevent the toner from getting hot enough to fuse to the paper.

Re: Konica Questions answered here by angela1969 (3/12/09 2:23 PM) reply + / -
hi gina m,
when you removed your paper that was jammed, did you open the green latches (to help remove the paper) inside the printer?
If these are left "up" as if you were printing envelopes the toner will not fuse on the paper. just puttng them back to the correct position should help. Ive done this before !!

anybody help me ? ive got a magicolor 2400w and it just prints blank pages!

any ideas?

thanks

2430DL - print starts 1/4" down from top by excelwithme (edited 3/15/09 2:05 AM) reply + / -
When I print, I recently noticed that sometimes what I'm printing is shifted down on the paper. For example, instead of starting at the top of the page, it's about 1/4" to 1/2" lower and I lose the bottom of the page since it runs out of room.

I was getting a "paper size mismatch" error but now it still prints with the shift down problem. When I called Tech Support, they thought it was a problem with a solenoid but when I took a look inside, I verified that the solenoid was moving properly.

Hi all,

I work at a university and look after IT support for one of the departments. One of the printers we use is a Konica Minolta Pagepro 9100.

It runs fine - but one problem I haven't been able to sort out is that whenever someone accidentally has US Letter set as their media size (we have A4 paper in the printer) it halts the machine and the only way to continue is for someone to cancel the job in the printer to allow the other network jobs to go through.

I've read through the manual and tried setting it to Network Mode (which I thought may have done the trick) but that only seems to work for Media type (transperency etc) not Media size.

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to make this possible - what ideally I'd like is to have it print automatically on A4 even if accidentally set to Letter.

Cheers,

Grocs.

There is a trick for sharing a 2400W between 2 computers. I had it in place and then had to reformat one of the computers due to a virus. Any idea what the trick is? I have a SET InterCon PS03 but I could never get it to work correctly with the two computers on the network, and there is a white line across the top of my prints and I am getting low on my ink, also when i opened the cover I saw a indent on the black plastic sheet, dont know what you call it.can low ink cause that line?

have you tried to manually rotate the carsousel?
you need to push and hold down the release catch BEFORE you spin it round.

Good Morning!

I have a Minolta magiccolor2300w that is printing almost like a tie dye effect. This only happens when printing color. B&W is ok.

I kinda look like a transfer roller issue where the colors fades and return but it is just speckles of all the colors across the page.

We change the color blue and drum, that when it started to happen.

According to Minolta they said it may be the controller board but I want to aks the question to see if anyone else had this issue.

THANKS! :-)

Chris

I know how to rest my Minolta 2550 drum with the fuse. What I am looking for is a place to buy the actual drum (not the whole cartridge ) to replace this. I found one on e-bay for around 44 dollars but I have to believe you can find them for less then this.

Some where on this thread someone said that the glass might have a spec on it can anyone tell me where i can get a picture of the inside to determine where this glass is

I was getting a fatal error (17H) on my magicolor 2400W and it made a grinding sound on startup. I tried reinstalling the toner cartridges but this was only a temporary fix. I realized the tonor rack was getting jammed against these two plastic tabs that are attached to the inside of the door on the front face of the printer (presumably for alignment). Removing these two plastic tabs with a dremel cutting tool was sufficient to clear the fatal error and now the printer works fine. Make sure you DONT cut the longer tab on the far right side which tells the printer the door is closed.

Magicolor 2300 DL that won't rotate toner drum by aquariangl (4/15/09 6:23 PM) reply + / -
I have a Magicolor 2300DL that is out of one of its toners. The machine still thinks it has some left of this color, but the page doesn't print this color. I have tried to change the toner cartridge, but the machine won't rotate to that cartridge to let me change it out. Is there a special way to get the machine to rotate when it thinks a cartridge is still full?

Re: Konica Questions answered here by StuTheDog (4/16/09 8:09 AM) reply + / -
Using the control panel you should be able to tell the printer to rotate to your toner by selecting "replace toner". You might also check upon "change toner sz" to ensure that the printer knows whether you are using regular or high capacity cartridges, otherwise it'll count down incorrectly.

I tried to delete all printers but still two copies of the 2300 sit ghosted out with the message 'deleting'. Any suggestions?

How to Solve Vertical line or Ghost image problems by Epogee (4/23/09 8:46 AM) reply + / -
I had this problem and diagnosis was 'new transfer band unit required' - having looked at the price, I decided to fix it myself. Here's how to do it:

1)You'll need to remove the optical drum first (but only to access the transfer belt)
2)Remove the transfer belt unit (the big black rubber band thing which has two knurled chrome retaining screws).
3)Before you take out the transfer bit make a note of the LEFT HAND toner waste port (the bit that the waste toner drum attaches to - what you need to fix is behind here
4)Basically the waste toner has accumulated on the squegee that scrapes the waste toner off the rubber band. Place the unit down with handle upmost. To access the squeegee, remove the small metal plate on the end nearest the squeegee unit. Then remove four screws which hold the sprung endplate which is underneath it. The end plate wont come off, but it will swivel out of the way. When you do this you will see the squeegee. It is a rubber profile running across the unit, and in front of it is a clear plastic profile that scrapes the crap off the drum. This profile will be black with toner.
5)Using alcohol (isopropyl if you have it, otherwise some vodka or polish pure spirit might work ok) on some strong kitchen tissue, clean up the rubber and plastic roller. It may be helpful to shake the unit and/or tip it up to allow as much waste toner to fall out of the small cavity beneath these two units before you start cleaning.
5)Once you've done this, simply reassemble and the problem will be fixed.

I'm not 100% sure I've described it exactly, but I'm writing from memory. It fixed my problem perfectly - and saved me the cost of a £200 transfer unit.

I started having similiar problem like other poster - my printer now prints inch or so too low on paper.

I am competely puzzled on why it prints too low. I plan to clean the rubbers rollers to see if those were slipping but I doubt it was the cause.

Konica PagePro 1300W losing springs-how to fix by On (5/2/09 12:12 PM) reply + / -
Hi!

Firstly, I must admit that this old or nearly ancient laser printer has been and still is a fantastic printer for me, I bought it about 4 years ago and it still goes strong! And that is under intensive usage.

So what went wrong?

My one and half year old daughter was trying to "fix" the papers tray when searching for painting papers.... and when pushing back the tray she managed to get the sensor hook out of place. And instead of pooling out the part above the papers tray and placing back the plastic hook in place, which is a simple operation... I have pooled out the part attached to tray. Realizing that it is standing on two springs, it took me several hours to figure out that these two springs are not fixed or supported and would refuse to stand still when pushing back this part...

Solution: apply some super glue to corresponding location for each spring on the printer side, wait 2-3 minutes and then slowly and gently try to place this part on the springs, pushing them down while placing this part back in place.

My printer works as it did before.. and I even had a chance to clean inside.

If you need any help with the same problem, just drop me a line in: http://www.web-app.net

X Cartridge not installed on Konica Minolta Magicolor 2400 / 2500 series printers.

Ive found a solution for the well documented "X Cartridge not installed" whenyou put a new cartridge in the machine.

1. Clean the toner chip on the cartridge
2. Clean the chip sensor inside the printer

see below link for pictures and location of the chip sensor.

http://www.zinetic.co.uk/toner_refill/magicolor-sensor-errors.aspx

works for

KONICA MINOLTA MAGICOLOR 2400W
KONICA MINOLTA MAGICOLOR 2430 DL
KONICA MINOLTA MAGICOLOR 2450
KONICA MINOLTA MAGICOLOR 2480MF
KONICA MINOLTA MAGICOLOR 2490MF
KONICA MINOLTA MAGICOLOR 2500W
KONICA MINOLTA MAGICOLOR 2530DL
KONICA MINOLTA MAGICOLOR 2550EN
KONICA MINOLTA MAGICOLOR 2580MF
KONICA MINOLTA MAGICOLOR 2590MF

The chip sensor can also be damaged. If this happens contact Konica for a replacement part as its a design fault.

Re: Re: media jam transfer roller error 2430 dl by Anonymous (5/14/09 8:42 AM) reply + / -
If you take the back cover off and look in the top right area you should see two adjasent free moving black plastic parts (on the top of the fuser unit).

The left one should have a plastic 'pin' and the right should have a groove/track. If the pin is not in the groove then the unit will draw paper just though the fuser unit then report a jam. This is because with the pin not in the groove the optical sensor is being fed inaccurate information.

Hope this helps

I have a 2530DL and it is running on my home network, where all but one of the PCs are running Windows XL, but the odd one out is running Vista. I installed the printer as a network printer successfully, and got all the XP machines able to access it using the instructions in Chapter 5 "Network Printing in a Windows Environment" of the Reference Guide. The main step was to put in the printer's ip address in the form "http://ipaddress:80/ipp" in the appropriate screen in the add a printer wizard.

There were no instructions and no driver supplied with the printer for Vista, but I downloaded a driver from a link on Microsoft's Vista Compatibility site. Then I tried to use the Printer Wizard in Vista to go through the same process as I did on XP, but without success. The options in the Vista wizard are not exactly the same as in XP, so I tried various combinations, none of which worked.

Is there a set of instructions for Vista parallel to the XP ones? Or can you tell me how to make the Vista PC able to use the printer as a network printer?

My images are coming out terrible. There is green and black, but no red, the result being that images come out with a heavy blue cast. Added to that, they are also badly pixelated--as if they were only 20dpi images, when they are 600dpi.

A real head-scrather!

Got an anwer?

I have been refilling my cartridges since new.
My K has been refilled 3 times.
I refilled the M,Y,& C about 2 months ago.
The K light came on a long time ago and is constant on now.
Today all three (Y,M,C) started slow flashing.

I have removed and cleaned the cartridges, removed waste toner, and vacuumed the inside.

It prints fine.

Is it just because the cartridge counters are almost full?

Other than replacing the cartridge chips is there any way to reset the chip?

Is there a cheap source for the chips?

Please help with 5430DL toner issue. by sgr (6/22/09 8:21 PM) reply + / -
Hello,
I have a KM 5430DL that has run fairly well for the last 2 years. I recently ran out of black toner and refilled the original toner cartridge as per the instructions supplied by the kit to the 6K page capacity and also replaced the chip. All went well for the last 6-8 months until the other day. I started to find that the black toner was leaving a grey 1 inch wide streak down the full page. I called KM service and they had me check the transfer belt, calibrate, reset and clean all laser lenses all to no avail. I did some investigating on my own and found that the black cartridge was depositing toner on the transfer belt even though it was not part of the print job. I checked to see if there was anything foreign in the cartridge around the green transfer roller, but did not see anything. I also noticed that the refilled cartridge is less than 25% in 6 months when the starter cartridge lasted me nearly 2 years. I found most of the toner in the lower cartridge reservoir. Emptying this did not make a difference. It seems to me that I need a new black toner cartridge, but was hoping that somebody might have a suggestion for me to remedy this.
Regards,
SGR

What I mean by cut off, is that they print essentially half a page, and leave the rest of the page blank. Is there any direction anyone could point me to as to why they do this? Is there some setting that is incorrect?

Different model printer, same questions.

This doesn't get me to settings I need but maybe it will help you.

If your printer has a Utility/Counter button on the control panel, press that. On mine, that brings up a screen that includes a "user setting" button. Under that, there is a "scanner setting" button. That has a choice about jpeg density. I can't figure out where you would select jpeg in the first place though.

Risk of screwing something up is yours, but maybe you can find answers you need by looking through some of those settings.
