Minolta Magicolor 2300DL - Black Toner Not Install by lenreinsmith (7/13/06 4:39 PM) reply + / -
Hi. I've completely taken the printer apart, cleaned it, put it back together; used new toner cartridges one at a time, all together etc. etc. and still get the same message..."Black Toner Not Installed" and I can't do anything else like print a configuration or test page. The folks at Konica seem baffled and have given up on me, including an "authorized repair facility" who won't even look at it. I suspect it's a problem on one of the circuit boards.

Is the 2400 any better? Anybody using the inexpensive Samsung Color Lasers? My wife is a real estate agent, and we use the color laser for her listing brochures (and pictures of our granddaughter)

Any ideas before this thing becomes a boat anchor?

Thanks, Len

If you want a nice color printer for real estate pictures, check out the Okidata's. Nice glossy print, no issues with them.

You can sample the printouts at most "super" store outlets. (office max / depot / staples.

Have you learned anything yet, I am having the same problem with my Konica Minolta 2400W (I love it by the way), it says I need to put in the cyan cartridge which is in, it happened after adding toner to the cartridges (c,y,m) which Minolta frowns on. I need my printer! Thanks Lori

Same problem here! I took them all out, put them all back, they're Konica Minolta high yield cartridges... I just spent 500.00 to replace them all and no printing a month after install. I deleted the driver then reinstalled it also. Turned it off, turned it on. A few times, with breaks in between. I am in need of help! It changes the color that it wants after I reinstall each cartridge. So, it switches which color is not installed. What the heck? I cleaned everything. It turns on, starts to calibrate, but then stops and says the toner is not installed. What can I do here to get it past the calibrator? Thanks, Peggy

Peggy,
Sounds like a toner sensor problem.
Remove the OPC drum and all the toner cartridges. Each cartridge has a little green circuit board chip with three gold contacts. When the toner carousel rotates into place those contacts move over the toner sensor. Look down into the printer on the right side underneath where the toner cartridges go and you will see a little white & black rectangular sensor with three thin wire like contacts. Your problem may be simply that they are dirty. I doubt that the contacts on the cartridges themselves are dirty if you get the "toner not installed" message from all 4 colors.
VERY CAREFULLY (these contacts are very flimsy) wipe the wire contacts and push on them with a tip of a pencil. They should move in and spring back when you let go. They also should be reasonably straight.
If it looks good, put everything back together and try it out.
If it still doesn't work, you have the same problem I did, the contact(s) are deformed or broken.
Please see the following thread for the solution I and another
member came up with:

Good Luck! Jeff

Minolta Magicolor 2300DL folds up the first page by hanoch (11/17/09 12:00 PM) reply + / -
The first page of any printjob gets folded across the middle about two inches down from the top. The next pages are printed just perfectly. What can I do about this???????

Another possible solution which worked for us:

After refilling the toner cartridge and resetting the mirrored sensor back so it was engaged into the white gears had the "toner not installed" error. After numerous attempts moving the mirrored sensor slightly forward it was never detected. At this time both the printer LCD menu and the XP driver software stated the specific toner cartridge was 100% full but the printer itself would not detect the toner cartridge. Had read somewhere over filling can cause issues so we removed some toner but that did not work.

Turns out we had to move the sensor forward all the way so it was not engaged into the gears at all. This is contrary to the toner refill instructions.

Came up with this solution after removing the other toner cartridges and noticed they all had the mirrored sensor on the cartridge moved all the way forward. Appears that once the toner cartridges are installed and detected, the printer would then move the mirrored sensor forward on the cartridge. We just manually replicated this process and it was our solution.

To manually rotate the cartridges insert a screwdriver into the round hole 1/2" left of cartridge. Located below the sticker with the two fingers showing you how to remove the cartridge. The round hole is inside the larger rectangular hole with four small plastic protrusions.

I am looking for a copy of those reset instructions even if they are flawed. I would sooner have an exploded view of the toner cartridge, if you have that as well that would be great.
Thanks for the help. Willie
