 | Re: epson c42 printer by EpsonTexanTornado (7/11/06 6:02 AM) reply | -1 + / - | it means your waste ink pads are full and if your printer was allowed to continue to fill on full pads, they would eventually run into your circuitry, causing your machine to short/even better
pretty much your machine is garbage now, as getting it repaired would definitely be beating the dead horse, and a service would indefinetly cost more than the machine originally did

Google the SSC service utility. Install and configure it then reset the protection counter. Open the printer and clean the absorber pads.

 | Re: epson c42 printer by David, UK (2/10/07 12:23 PM) reply | + / - | Download the SSC Service Utility to reset the waste ink pad "Protection Counter" from here:-
http://inkjetprinterhelp.us/epsonSSC.html
When you download and install the SSC utility you must right click on the icon in your taskbar and select "Show Main Window" to select your printer in BOTH boxes ---- the main list AND "Installed Printers" before the reset and other functions will work. After setting this you again right click on the icon and select "Protection Counter" --- "Show Current Value" to see the current count and the maximum limit allowed. If it needs resetting the 2 numbers will be very closely or exactly the same. To reset go back into the "Protection Counter" ---- "Reset Protection Counter". I also advise that the waste ink pads are renewed or taken out for cleaning and refitting. Failure to do so could result in ink overflowing from the base of the printer when the waste tank gets full, although you may be OK until the counter limit is reached again.
