Do you have the reset program... I mean the SSC Service Utility yet?
If you have it... the proccedues are as follows:
First you install the program... the setup will guide you through the procces... when you're done with this.. then the main screen appears...
Here you'll find 3 tabs at the top Click on "configuration".. it willl show either the printers supported by the utility and the printers you have installed on your system... on the 2 options you must select the model that you are trying to reset..
Then close the main window and the program will become an icon on the right-bottom of the "windows-desk-task-bar".. now right click on the icon and the contextual menu will show to you several options... just click on "reset counter" (marked with an X)and click on "show current value" now you will see the current value of the counter... if the counter have reached its maximum value or if it is over this value.. you need to reset... so clñick on "OK" and again righclick on the icon ... again on reset counter but now you click on reset counter... the program will ask you if you have replaced the waste ink pad... don't bother, there is no need to do this.. the waste pad resists at least 8 resets on your model... so click "yes" and the counter will be restored to 0... now you unplug you printer from the power source for about 15 seconds... anda re plug it... turn it on as usual anda if you did all riaght... then you'll be able to print again as normal...

I have an epson c46 and want to reset the protection counter.I've run the SSC Service Utility v4.20 but it appears that it doesn't support my printer. Can anyone who has reset the counter on a C46 tell me which utility the have used? I've finished doing the hard work of cleaning the pads.

The first Tab, is about the printers you have installed, if you have only the c46, you'll find only c46 there. But if you have more than 1 printer, then all your printers will appear there.
The Second Tab, is about All the printers (each version of SSC features new models) that SSC suppotrt.. so, to work on the model you have chosen on the first Tab, then you need to make a "match" between the 2 tabs, in a few words, in this case, the 2 tabs need to be on "c46"

Excuse me please, and use this option instead what I wrote a few minutes ago (I will edit that post now)

So anyway it works, and thanks a lot.

you must take the top off your printer to get at the pads
then 'wear gloves' cos it is messy now take them out one at once and rinse under running cold water until the ink is flushed out of each (long job but worth it) then merely dry them out completely and then replace in the reverse order they came out

 | ADVICE ON RESET PROGRAM FOR EPSON STYLUS C46 by Anonymous (12/10/09 8:39 AM) reply | + / - | Hi, have followed the instructions on using the software, but to no avail - the red light remains on and the ink level still shows 0 for black ink cardridge.
Also the printer does not want to feed paper from the tray and I expect that this is why the red light remains on (mechanical failure?) or maybe this failure is due to an incomplete procedure on resetting the black printer chip?
Can you help me?
