Another PSC 2410 problem! by stephenkotleba (1/26/06 8:38 PM) reply + / -
Another message for help re: psc 2410. Mine does not work any longer and starts up to the right looking for it's start position. I have read so many threads about it and how to clean the glass and mirrors underneath and nothing has worked. I have personally cleaned all the mirros, class bottom and top 3 seperate times and it still is not working. Is there anything else I can do. It will make the clicking sound for about 30 seconds as it bangs into the right side and the hour glass will just sit there forever after this happens. What can I do?

Re: HP psc 2410 photosmart turn on problem by cdpena@sbcglobal.net (10/28/05 2:46 PM) reply + / -
I was having the same problem. The printer is now working. What I did to correct the problem was to hold the cancel button down before I turned the printer on and hold it down through the start up process.

Good luck,

cdp

Hi,

Please tell me how you clean the glass underneath on the 2410 photosmart. I have some smears and smudging and it is showing on my scans. Instruction not in book for underside.
Thanks
Linda

I just got thru doing the same... lets see if I have the sequence down:

you will need a Torx T-10, and a small flat bladed screwdriver

/ remove power, usb cables
/ remove the rear panel
/ remove the two (torx-10) screws... pull the right side out... you will have to jiggle the left side.. it has two guide tabs and a tab on the top left
/ remove the flat ribbon cables on left.. and the speaker wire connector to the modem
/ lift the scanner assembly lid... go past the catches on either side and lift off
/ pry the face plate up gently... (I found from the left side seems easiest)...
/ push a small flat bladed screwdriver into the small rectangular hole under the BLACK button... while pushing the detent down.. slide the panel towards you and up
/ remove the ribbon cables and connector
/ remove scanner cover (life up top (90 degrees from glass).. and rock out of slot
/ remove the 5 torx screws.. 2 under the panel you removed, 1 below the frame that held the top cover, 2 on the lefthand side.
/ the assembly that holds the glass should now lift out.

I am an old man.. so I may have forgotten.... er where was I

Luck,

bill

Thanks, Bill!
This worked perfectly!
(Except in step 3 I didn't need to remove the ribbon cables--only in step 8).

Cleaning Glass on PSC 2410 & bumping scanner Light by DocDouglas (9/24/06 9:53 AM) reply + / -
CLEANING THE UNDERSIDE OF THE GLASS ON HP PSC 2410
thanks to bill above who provided the ideas to make this work:
Needs small no 10 torx medium and small flat bladed screwdriver.
/ remove power, usb cables
raise the thin cover over the scanner glass, then pull forward gently on the catch between the hinges and lift this cover right off.
lift off the silver cover (top layer) over the keys on right side—by pushing down and back just beside the two tabs near front, this then top layer of cover lifts right off.
/ pull the right side silver cover=key pad towards the front. In order to do this push a small flat bladed screwdriver into the small rectangular hole in front of the BLACK button... while pushing the detent down.. slide the panel towards you and up. This panel REMAINS ATTACHED by the data-ribbon-cables, but the ribbons have enough slack to allow the key-pad to tilt to the left so the torx screws can be reached.
/ remove the 5 torx screws.. 2 under the panel you removed (tilted to the left), 1 below the frame that held the top cover, 2 on the lefthand side.
/ the assembly that holds the glass should now lift out. It is still attached by the ribbons, but has enough slack to be cleaned.
On re-assembly, put the glass assembly back on, put in the 5 torx screws, then pull the ribbon-cables up snug and tape them gently so they remain snug. If you leave a bit of slack in these ribbons, then the box which carries the scanner light cannot park fully to the right. The symptom is that it keeps trying (by bumping into a block on the right). This will eventually break the ribbon or wear out the motor on the scanner, and anyway, it won’t work while this box cannot park to the right.

Regards, Douglas.

I have an HP PSC 2410v All-in-One printer.
I had a paper jam and tried to clear it by carefully removing the top. The top slipped on the workbench and all three ribbon cables came off.
Can anyone tell me the location of each cable. Two are identical except that one has a white end and one has a blue end. On the PC board there are three connectors. Two are located near the bottom of the card and are approximately 1/2 inch apart. The third connector (blue edge) is near the edge and above the the other two.
When looking at the card the connectors are oriented as follows:

0 4 wire cable connector
!! single connector
!! !! two connectors side by side

It appears that the ribbon cable that doesn't match the other two will only reach the uppermost connector. I can see how the ribbon cable attaches to the connectors since the metal connectors have to make electrical contact with the female connectors on the board.

Any help will be greatly appreciated. Next time, I'll read the manual about opening the rear compartment to clear paper jams.

Thanks in advance,

Ron

I have a start-up problem . After a power outage, when I turn on my hp psc 2410, it seems to try and reset for 30 + secs. It stops but no go on the machine.

Any help would be welcomed
