I have a HP Designjet 450C which has been in a box for several years. For some reason, the ink cartridges (44 series) and (40 for black) will not clip tight into position. I have other HP Designjet 450C's and have switched cartridges around but on this one, the cartridges will not stay in position. The others have a distinctive clip when you push the cartridges in. This one there is nothing that holds it tight into position. I've looked carefully and can't see any difference in the housing between the ones that work and ones that don't. Any comments will be appreciated.

Make sure the top piece is clipped on both sides. If you move the carriage to the middle with the power off look on each side near the top where the top piece clips on. There is a small hole on each side which snaps into a small protusion on each side of the carriage assembly. I have seen cases where one of the protusions breaks and the top is not on firmly. Unfortunately if that is the case the complete carriage assembly needs to be replaced.
