HP officejet d135

Hi, Before we go shopping for another "multi-tasker" unit!!?!!... Does anyone have any suggestions on how to "fix" the "SCANNER FAILURE" message on the HP d135 printer? We have it plugged into it's own outlet. The scanner components seem to be O.K. But whenever we try to fax or print something most of the time we get the message "SCANNER FAILURE". Any suggestions appreciated! Thanks.

I am having the same problem! HP tech support is telling me the machine is basically scrap now! Said there was an internal pc board that is not allowing the scanner bulb to heat up enough and there is no fix for it. I find that hard to believe! I paid $500 for this unit in July 2002 AND bought a 3 year extended warranty and now am being told to buy another refurbished unit for more $$$ from HP! Ridiculous! If anyone out there knows how to fix this problem, I sure would appreciate your help! Thanks!

Yes, I will try cleaning it - I read somewhere that might fix it - you wouldn't think a little 'dust' could cause all this problem - but I'm thinking that will do it! And to think HP wanted me to scrap it! I'll let ya'll know if it works so others can know...but I gotta go find some weird little star shaped screwdriver...that's only kind will work on the screws on this thing! Thanks for the advice!! :)

the star shaped screwdriver is a torx driver, sometimes you can use a allen wrench to unscrew it.

Cleaning this unit (not an easy task to clean underside of glass!) did no good whatsoever...guess I'll go buy Dell 964!

cleaning glass does not help does anyone have and other ideals?

Having same problem here. Will work on it this weekend and let y'all know. I also noticed the edge of copy (all 4 sides) is croped about 1/4". I hear a crunch - ker chunck sound each time it tries. So I suspect some scanner allignment or sensor problem. Thanks....

I have an HP Officejet d135 and the scanner function is not working. The printer, copier and fax all work but nothing happens when I try to scan and then I get the scanner error message. I cleaned the glass and I can see the light on. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
