HP Professional 2000C LED error code 1-2-8?? by papagoose (edited 10/14/05 8:34 AM) reply + / -
I have an older 2000C, 7 years. The printer runs through initialization almost. Right before the ink station moves to the ready position, all of the lights start flashing. If I press the continue button, I get a 1 2 8 error code. I cannot find anything on this anywhere. Please don't refer me to web pages that list the generic code listing as this code IS NOT THERE! I've already looked. they show error codes 121 and 122 but not 128.

Thanks in advance for any help anyone can give me.

Papagoose,

I had ALL the lights flashing on my HP 2000c, with error code 455 or so I tought. I read it a several times and sometimes arrived at a different codes. I just ignored the code.

I had a broken carriage lock (purple in color) causing the problem.

The print head latch (purple) was not closing all the way and hitting the latch tab (metal) on the right side of the printer.

The print head latch must be closed all the way otherwise the printer does not go into its normal print mode.

Symptoms associated with this problem were:

- No paper pick up
- All indicator lights flashing
- Error code 455

Solution: I fashioned a new carriage lock out of spring wire, about the thickness of a large paper clip. A paper clip will not work for a carriage lock as its metal bends too easily.

I hope this information helps!

Ramiro
