 | HPLaserJet4P prints s1M on blank page by Glanz (9/15/05 10:50 AM) reply | + / - | I have a HPLaserJet4P and I had to buy a parallel to usb vs. a parallel to parallel cable to hook it up to my new Dell computer and now everytime I print it prints the job but wastes an additional blank page with just s1M at the top left corner. I have done extensive research and there was someone else who had the same s1M after using a parallel to usb so she changed it back to parallel to parallel which fixed the problem. I cannot do this as my my computer does not have a parallel port that was the reason I went out and spent $38 on a parallel to usb cable. Is there a way that I can prevent my computer from printing this page? I've tried a cold reset on the printer which puts back settings to factory setting and this helps just one time, any suggestions?

 | Re: Re: HPLaserJet4P prints s1M on blank page by sweetpapa (10/7/06 4:52 PM) reply | + / - | This is due to using a parallel port to USB adapter for printing.
You can fix this by turning off bidirectional support:
- Right click your printer, select properties - go to the ports tab, uncheck Enable bidirectional support.
Your printer has to be turned on before printing.
That fixed the extra page printing S1M problem for me.

Unchecking bi-directional support worked great for a while, but now it has started printing the dread s1M again, even without BD Support checked. Any ideas?

I will try the recommended adjustment to printer-properties.

 | Re: Re: HPLaserJet4P prints s1M on blank page by Anonymous (1/28/09 12:37 PM) reply | + / - | Now my printer has been s1M free for quite awhile. I have no idea why it acted up a few times after unchecking bi-directional support, but that seems to have fixed it in the long run.
