Anyone know how to enter the service mode on a canon imagerunner 330s? I have an annoying error code, E001 that keeps popping up every couple of months or so and I’m growing tired of having to pay a tech 65 bucks just to clear the code and tell me he doesn’t know why it keeps happening.
Of course the prick won't tell me how to clear the code myself because he likes to make a quick and easy $65 without having to actually accomplish anything. I work too damn hard to keep handing my money over to some bum whose only job is to press a couple of buttons and then hold his hand out for payment.
I just want to be able to enter the service mode and clear the code myself. Any help?

1. The Error Code is related to an Over temp issue in the fuser unit. The tech. is wise not to devulge how to release the code due to the fact that it can cause fuser melt down in the machine and possible fire to your facility. Although he is not a very good technician if he does not know what is causing the problem.
A few things to look at are:
A. Thermister - The fuser Temp sensor. B. Composite Power supply (If so be glad you are only paying $65.00 it is a whopper price to pay) C. SSR1 - Solid State Relay (I can't remember if it is a part of the Composite Power Supply on this machine or not) D. DC Controller PCB.
Although these boards may be expensive there are authorized board repair companies that are a fraction of the price compared to a new replacement, yet they will not sell to the public. I suggest you find a new repairman, although $65 an hour is a great price. But if he can't do the job better to pay more for a decent tech.
not pretty but true.
So it seems to me . . .

I appreciate your comments and your advice, however he (the tech) has previously replaced all the items you mention and the error code continues to reoccur.
At this point, he believes it to be a wiring or grounding problem due to the old wiring in the building. I don't know if that's just some B.S. story that really means he doesn't know what he's doing or not, but I do know that all those items were replaced less than a year ago. When the code is cleared now, the machine will continue to function properly without any problems for another couple of months.
If it starts to occur with increased frequency, or if the indications change, then I will reconsider mearly reseting it, but for now that's all it needs.
He is not giving you the bull about the wiring in the old building. The DC Controller reads the neutral to ground in your wall receptical. It is how the DC Controller sends signal to all the components in your machine to turn things on & off. Although it may seem like a stretch of the imagination.
Good Luck with your machine and thanks for responding.
Empty the white waste toner bottle in the front of the copier - the error code E000013 happens a while after the "replace waste toner container" message is ignored. You may need to clean the little sensor windows near the top of the container after dumping.
