epson c42 printer

i have a epson c42 printer and it is giving me a maintenance required error message. how do i get this printer to work. thank you

These errors are normally a waste ink tank full message. You will need to do two things. Take apart the printer and find where the waste tank is (usually felt pads) clean them of ink and reinstall them. Then reset the waste ink counter. You can use the SSC utility to reset the counter.

Just got the same error. I opened the printer. I found another site that talks about a cleaning pad. This one has none, as far as I saw. Anyway. Did notice the BACK of the printer having a "tray" in the back with a pad of some sort in it. If I understand you correctly, simply empty the tray and clean/dry up the pad ? My BIGGEST question is how to reset that DAMN counter. What is a SSC utility? Thanks. P.S. The printer works like a charm. I would hate to toss it for something as simple as that. Just bought cartidges. Would hate to have to toss them too.
