 | HP PSC 1610 All-in-One software install error by mgrace (8/19/05 5:13 PM) reply | + / - | When installing the HP Software for this printer I get an error after plugging in the USB cable when the Found New Hardware Wizard is running stating "An error occurred during the installation of the device", "The parameter is incorrect". HP insists this is a problem with the OS. I’m running Windows 2000 Pro. I have done what they suggested and reinstalled the printupg.inf file, but I get the same error. Has anyone ran into this issue and know what can be done to resolve this error?

 | Re: HP PSC 1610 All-in-One software install error by revbcg (8/18/07 8:45 AM) reply | + / - | I am trying to locate someone or someplace to obtain a copy of the ORIGINAL software disc for the PSC 1610. The downloads from the HP website are not allowing the unit to function and perhaps a full reinstall using an original disc will work. Since I obtained the unit used, the original disc is not available. In advance, to any who can assist, THANKS!

 | Re: HP PSC 1610 All-in-One software install error by Bert (8/18/07 11:26 AM) reply | + / - | Are you sure the printer is functional?
Go to HP's driver download web page to order a replacement disk. Order the disk based on the operating system you are using. If you are using Windows 98/ME your are stuck, because HP has purged all support for them.

 | Re: HP PSC 1610 All-in-One software install error by revbcg (8/18/07 11:51 AM) reply | + / - | Yes, the printer is OK -- it's the scanner and copy functions that won't work. I am trying to get this thing to work and the download for Windows XP sets the printer OK -- as does the "basic" software download, but no scanner operations. The scanner "shows" in control panel but the supposedly installed software doesn't appear in the Programs listing. For some reason, the HP downloads don't work properly and their so-called support doesn't respond to emails. Therefore: my hope is that somewhere, someone, will have the original disc which I can pay them to copy or even setup for a download -- but that would probably be a real effort even with broadband. Thanks for attending to this request!

 | Re: HP PSC 1610 All-in-One software install error by ShelliJ (9/16/07 10:32 AM) reply | + / - | I have an HP All in one printer and it is CRAP! It worked fine with the photo cartridges that it came with but I wasted about $300 on photo cartridges from different stores because the printer was making my photos come out all green or all purple. I contacted HP and they said it was the internal hard drive and I could return it but they got mad when I wouldn't give them my credit card number (why should I? I had already bought their printer....). Anyway, I contacted a manager who said that he thought I was just trying to rip off HP by trying to get them to send me an additional printer....I told him I would send mine back first but he said that would cost HP too much money! He finally agreed to send me one but told me if this one didn't work, he would not send me anymore (great customer service!!). I got the printer in a few days, shipped my broken one back, confirmed that he received it and guess what? The one he sent me did the same thing so once again, I tried buying new photo cartridges and had the same problem. Long story short, I will NEVER buy another HP product.....they suck!

Could you burn me a copy of the disc (Windows only if there's also one for Mac's) and if so, what reimbursement would make your frustration(s) with the unit somewhat lessened? Thanks ... and a reply of some sort would be appreciated.

 | Re: HP PSC 1610 All-in-One software install error by Bill G (10/20/07 12:09 PM) reply | +1 + / - | Recently the scanner on my 1610 stopped working. It tells me I need to install or run device software. I uninstalled the print drivers, rebooted and tried reinstalling the drivers. I get all the way to step 8, the very last step and it stops working. It doesn't lock up th PC, it just stops installing. Has anyone else had this problem and what was done to repair the installation?
Thanks in advance. Bill

 | Re: HP PSC 1610 All-in-One software install error by bessee (10/30/09 3:03 PM) reply | +1 + / - | I've got the original software disk and it doesn't give you ANY advantage - it won't install the printer software in any manner that will operate properly on WIN XP. Your screwed until HP get's around to assembling a patch. It takes them WAY longer than ANY other manufacturer to respond to product problems.
The September 2009 WIN XP driver and software upgrade available on the HP site doesn't work either. Their software has ALWAYS been a problem - you'd think a company THAT BIG could afford to hire some top notch software engineers and be able to respond to problems right away. No such luck - I'm guessing they aren't willing to pay the salary to get the right people.
The current "Failure to install" problems seem to have started for me after the last round of WIN XP Updates.
