 | Re: Laserjet 3330 by ozyloco (8/18/05 5:08 PM) reply | + / - | Hi Moe, thanks for the quick response.
I had a look at the service manual . It only advises to make sure the cartridge is inserted properly. Is there a cartridge sensor? I can't find any. after doing some research I was told that it may detect the cartridge using the High voltage power supply connectors. what are your thoughts on that? any help is appreciated.
cheers

 | Re: Laserjet 3330 by ozyloco (8/18/05 5:32 PM) reply | + / - | my only option is to try a new engine controller unit i guess. any other suggestion?

 | Re: Laserjet 3330 by Stephen (8/18/05 5:33 PM) reply | + / - | Have you checked the items the service manual refers to?
Door Open Or No Print Cartridge
The print cartridge door is open or the print cartridge is not installed properly.
1. Check that the print cartridge door and left-side door are completely closed.
2. Check that the print cartridge is correctly installed. (See “Print cartridge” on page 110 for more information.)
3. Check that the door and print cartridge interlocks are operating correctly. (See "Paper path check" on page 206 for more information about the door interlock.)

yes i have tried all that. the interlocks are working. took the side covers of and disengage the two cartridge arms. once the cartridge is inserted the arms move in interlocking the switch SW301 on the Engine controller unit. any other idea? cheers

 | Re: Laserjet 3330 by Stephen (10/18/05 3:30 AM) reply | + / - | It's time to start swapping parts.
There have been a couple of cases where people adjusted, (bent), the actuating arm on the front door switch and got things working.
Have you checked the switch with a meter?

 | Re: Laserjet 3330 by dmzcompute (10/18/05 6:29 AM) reply | + / - | This may be way off base since I have not looked at a 3330 in a while. When you remove the toner, look down to where the cartridge makes contact with the hv springs. I am not sure on this one, but on most recent hp printers, they usually look like little paper clips ends sticking up and there are usually two. Sometimes these get bent to one side or even somehow get pushed in so no contact is made with the toner and hence the message. Worth a shot. If you do not see any contacts just disregard.

 | Re: Laserjet 3330 by moe (10/18/05 9:52 AM) reply | + / - | dmz is correct. They're on the left side, one is behind the Charge Transfer Roller, one in front. The one in front is the one for the toner.

 | Re: Laserjet 3330 by ozyloco (10/20/05 4:48 PM) reply | + / - | Thanks guys for replying,
the contacts are OK. I had a HP2100 that accidentaly the contacts got bent and it will print with a back ground, but on this machine the contacts are good.
as for the actuator arm making contact with switch, both parts are working. although I haven't tested it with a meter, when the switch is pressed down by the arm the open door message goes away and immediately the No Print Cartridge shows. I think trying a new controller board is my only option at the moment.
if I fix it I will let you guys know
Thanks for your time
