G85 Scanner failure problem

Scanner began glitching on it's own. On first scan after a power-up, no prob. On subsequent scan, there was a gear slippage noise, then "scanner failure-turn power off, then on" message appeared. After looking through the G85 forum, tried the "6,#,plug in power cord" method. Now initial scan executes, but I get "scanner failure, power off..." message immediately after completion of scan. I have not taken it apart to clean the lenses and mirrors, yet. Thanks for any help! Paul

Then go ahead and take it apart and clean the mirrors and glass.

How do I get to the mirrors? I've taken the scanner off. Please help.

If you hear a belt slipping, I would be more concerned about the motor and belt than mirrors.
